Retirement may not be effective immediately. Could just be announced he's retiring at season end.

I'm just assuming he won't be on the sideline on Saturday, but yes, letting him hang on for the remainder of the season is possible.

I'm leaning to just letting him coach the rest of the season and retirement effective after the last game.

I think so, at least for straight salary. I know Self was close to 10m but not quite there last I checked.

If he’s retiring, wouldn’t he just finish out the season.  No need for an interim
