If Stevens really is the most likely candidate, I know people have mentioned the date of the NBA trade deadline as being a significant thing to keep an eye on. I’m curious to know how so? Let’s say 100% it’s going to be Brad, wondering how that would tie into Woodson being gone and if it’d trigger any now info or announcement of him being gone and Brad being the guy.

Wonder if they have voted this time. If they have I'm guessing it's 3-0 or at the very least 2-1

At what point do we buy champagne bottles to pop and Pull out of the box of cigars.

If Kentucky couldn’t do it, Indiana certainly isn’t doing it.

Wouldn’t that depend on which sitting coach IU went after.    Kentucky took a big swing and missed however if they would have kept going that route they couldn’t have gotten one.  They were comfortable with Pope and his ties to Kentucky

Stevens would have to resign effectively immediately before anything happened.

You’re making a little more out of it than it really is. It’s probably nothing. After we hire Brad I’ll tell you what it was about.

What's that saying? Read between the lines:

They settled on Pope because they got taken for a ride after all the big wigs leveraged the UK job into raises and extensions.

Nah they got turned down by the real big wigs but could have gotten another sitting high major D1 sitting coach if they wanted.   They just went the Pope route.   Now this just all my opinion since I’m just a random poster on a free message board and no real clue on what actually happened

If Woodson retires, then Michigan knows our job is open and can sign him to an extension. If we have Stevens lined up none of that matters.
Also after the trade deadline, the only thing left to do is set your playoff roster. He could be free to do other things.

Will Wade with his high D1 players playing in the Southland is currently in a battle with Incarnate Word at home.  Incarnate up 1 with 40 sec to go

Just win to move to 28-2 in the Southland through his first 30 games. McNeese St hadn’t had a winning record since 2011….

I know I actually was watching the game.  Not hard to do when you bring high D1 talent into a league like the Southland

His starters are from UMass, St Louis, UTSA, Louisiana, and a guy from Syracuse who averaged 6 points a game. The fact he can bring talent to the Southland at a place like McNeese St speaks volumes.

Where on Earth did I say Pitino Jr is the best IU could do? I literally said if you’re going to bring up mid-major guys like Calhoun and McCollum, Pitino Jr should be in that discussion as well. GD when did reading become a skill?

IU could hire Wade or Beard tomorrow and that’s likely the best they could do as those are two phenomenal coaches. I think Mick Cronin would strongly consider IU as well.

But if IU isn’t going to entertain somebody with some baggage, then it’ll be the up and coming/mid-major route. No sitting tenured P5 coach with a history of sustained success is going to jump ship for this fishbowl.  If that’s the route IU does go, Pitino should absolutely get a look.

Man, he’s playing all the hits in one post!

McNeese State making strong @$$ offers it would seem.
