As an interim to finish the year, whatever. If they hired him full time then I might root for Kentucky; fortunately that won't happen.

Root for Kensucky? Blasphemy! Hahaha

It was, but the total buyout was increased by $4.2M at the same time.

Typical business negotiation. Both parties got something out of it.  Plus, the program was on a different trajectory than it is now.    There were definitely high hopes going into this season.

the buyout structure is very appealing for Dolson now thank goodness.

And I’m not defending it, but can understand it. At least at the time.

I'd have to find someone, because I wouldn't be able to keep pulling for IU at that point.

Anyone but Kentucky. Or Duke :P I'm not a fan of either lol but I'm just giving ya grief, you root for whoever you want hahaha

Crean could probably win with this roster, but I wouldn’t want him long term. It would be terrible publicity to hire him back after firing him just to let him go again.

Yea.  A raise is fine if Woody was performing exceptionally well.  I don’t think he was.  Kinda funny he got that extra $1M/yr and $4.2M higher buyout and then immediately after the wheels totally came off.  Classic IU.

Whoever the next coach is he better do a great job of hiring quality assistant coaches. I don't want 3 guys who are there just to recruit. I want guys who know how to teach the game and can develop players

Duh. Everyone knows that. Except for the current staff.

I hope you are right. If we end up with a candidate worse than May, our administration is going to be mocked mercilessly (rightfully so).

Even if it’s a candidate worse than May, it won’t be a candidate worse than the Parasite King.

There has been a lot of talk about morals in this thread. Hard no on Rosemond. Plus, when the scout team makes fun of your scouting ability, probably shouldn't be named an interim head coach.

Well, he’d be replacing a guy who should not have been named HC. So there’s that.

When no one else wants you then you probably shouldn't be named head coach yet here we are.

well it's gonna be one or the other for the remainder of the season if we do make a change mid-season
There is not going to be a midseason change we are stuck wing the king til march. Quinn isn't letting his boy get forced out without his retirement celebration in march.

That raise was one of the most baffling moves ever made by an athletic department.

In and of itself yes, but look deeper at how the buyout payment got changed.  I think that was the most important part of the "raise"!
