There is little high school recruiting being done and it’s been that way. Your point about coaching into the final 2 years of a contract is valid but was WAY more valid before NIl/Transfer Portal. Anyone can assemble a team in weeks now.

similarly, I would ask, how many schools can their coach after making the tournament? There have been a few but it is very rare.

My hope is that top-5 NIL carries an expectation we should be somewhat close to a top-10 or 15 team, or at least S16 in terms of the tourney.  So more expectations than just making the tourney given all the money spent on the roster.  Again, I'm just hoping, I get your point.

Right now our NET and KenPom are mid-50's.  We'll see where we end up...

If IU gets hot and makes the tourney, then I'm a happy fan. If IU stays on path of Woodson's tenure to date and he gets fired, then I'm happy. It's a win-win for me personally. Go Hoosiers! (Fire Mike Woodson too though!)

Making the tournament and then getting the doors blown off like Woodson’s first two seasons would be a horrible result. It would likely save his job, but it won’t make any fans happy, and it won’t solve any of the other issues with the Woodson administration. The only thing it would accomplish is subjecting us to another year of this.

He's not going to get fired.  If push comes to shove and the writing's on the wall, Quinn will not let him be fired but will serve as a mediator if necessary to insure that it's a celebratory retirement thank you for you service exit.

Ah yes, a huge thank you for getting to the second round of the NCAA tourney!

100% agree, but not just because of their guard play.

Konan at the 5 has really been good, though one might not know that after seeing Ballo dominate yesterday. Hicks is a very good 3/4 combo, and Rhodes is a very good coach. As Hornsby said, USC (especially) and Iowa follow, and those are both low-tier B1G teams, but Penn State? Seems like a 12-8-ish B1G team to me.

Yes, exactly all of that too

This is probably more tongue and cheek and don't believe it myself. Everyone expectations were to compete for the big ten and make a run in the tournament.

So far we are 3-1 and are a 1/2 out of first place with two teams at 3-0.

We are 12-3 which is only a game from what Predicted at this time

I thought we would only lose 1 in the Bahamas and lose at Nebraska so really are we that far off from those expectations so far

I’d wager a ton of money this is exactly correct…

Under the assumption that this is actually his last year.

I want to be clear that what I'm saying is there have been talks about paying him to retire. Does that mean it's guaranteed to happen NOT at all. But since there were talks like that last year and Dolson got vetoed, It's hard to believe that Dolson would get told no again if he decides to go that direction. I think right now he is making sure the money is there and he has a list of people who would listen if not already know they would say yes.

Thank you for clarifying your stance as many here look to you for tea leaves.

I think some have taken things much further and stating that he is gone regardless and I don’t believe that to be true and from what I am reading here, you don’t either.

From what I was told, Woodson doesn’t want to leave, that doesn’t mean he won’t be asked to, but any thoughts of him graciously retiring are unlikely. If he can get this team to the tournament and let’s say, win one game, that makes things very difficult for anyone wanting him gone.

is making the tourney and a round of 32 what we hoped for? No, but given Indiana’s performance over the last 20+ years, that is sadly one of our better seasons. So why fire him then if we could have done it when he was coming off of a pretty lousy season?

I would think Penn St could finish in the top half because of their guard play

They might finish that high. They already beat PU by 11 and only lost by 4 at Rutgers.

Not saying PSU is a juggernaut, by any stretch of the imagination, but they aren’t complete push overs either. That being said,  I agree with Chris that it is sad PSU was favored by 7.5.

Sounds like MR is out for a bit. Will be interesting to see how we continue to play without him and, if we continue to play better on the offensive side, how Woody will handle MR’s return. Hopefully, surely (but who knows) he sees what absolutely everyone watching the games sees when we only play one big.  I think even the guy that sleeps next to Woody must see the difference.

The manner in which those games were lost kind of weighs into the feelings....

Even if Woodson intended not to come back he can change his mind. Like you have said good luck firing a guy who just made the tournament.

Mike Davis made the tournament his last season.

Oh they will but they have to continue with the same EE!  I do hate that he’s hurt though but it shouldn’t take his injury to see that!

I still think they squeak into the dance, get blasted in the first weekend, and then a couple days later Dolson (Buckner) announces the Return of the King.

If that happens and he returns, it'll probably be like last year with radio silence from the AD. No announcement, no statement of support, nothing.

Let's hold off on all this tournament talk stuff. This team has alot to prove yet before anyone has any right to even bring it up. I think in February early we will all have a much clearer picture.
