I did have someone tell me that all of the names that are being released to the media or other people are just a diversion. They didn't share any names but I hope they are correct.

Dunno if this is what you’re hinting at, but I noticed he was left off Osterman’s list…

I was told by someone I trust relatively well that Herman has spoken/met with Dolson.

I don't know what they were hinting at, just told me not to believe all the names being reported. I hope it is true because Herman is my #1. His name has been mentioned, just has not been said he got an interview.

Now IU just has to spend money to make a good hire like a football school would.

The fact that Fitz was seriously considered and Hart was interviewed has me skeptical.

If there was ever a program that was dead weight it’s IU

Why would you be skeptical of Pat Fitzgerald? From a pure X's and O's standpoint, he's the best person IU has talked too by a mile. You can count on one hand the number of guys who could have done what Fitz has done at Northwestern. And it's only getting harder for the prestigious academic schools in the NIL and portal climate.

His last 4 years were IU level bad. The 1 good year in there was a fluke year just like IU's. It looks like he wasn't able to keep up with the changes in college football so there's no reason to think that would change at IU.

This, of course, is in addition to what got him fired from Northwestern.

His offense was boring too. He coached in the West. If Allen was in the west he would probably still be the coach.

Lol those changes are out of his control. Fitz has zero say in NU's admission requirements or their selectiveness in undergrad transfers.

Put Fitz in a program without rigorous admission and academic requirements and he can be as good as anybody. He's going to coach again somewhere and be very successful.

I don't think he will until he settles his lawsuit with NW. Just my opinion though

Next candidate might be a coordinator for high school, not Bishop Chatard as they're used to winning. I mean if we're not going to be serious might as well be completely unserious.

I’d rather have Chatard’s Rob Doyle than most of these coaches. Go Trojans!

And arguably the best one at that. It's Jason Candle or nothing at this point.

For people like myself, with really no knowledge of the candidates why Candle?  I don’t want to sound argumentative but I don’t want to go down the CAM road.  He has been there a lot of years and he’s still there correct?

It feels like for me, and I just know what has been presented in this thread, I would prefer Herman by a wide margin followed by Chryst.
