IU_FanClub Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 We really gonna do the X discourse all year aren't we? Shocking newsflash, college basketball player has some flaws. He was the one guy that played with intensity from the jump and without his production in the first half we probably lose that game. I get so frustrated seeing people nitpick every little thing he does and ignore anything positive he brings. He's a good player that helps our team. I thought people would get off his @$$ after the massive jump he made at the end of his first season but he seems to still have a target on his back from some of our fans and I think that's ridiculous. And FWIW, no one said that X is a flawless leader, just that he is a more natural leader than Galloway. My wife accuses me of over exaggerating but in this case I really don’t think so. Robbie Hummel pointed out that he was arguing every foul call against him. He just needs to let it go and just play. As far as the comments about Ware and Reneau, we all heard it. But I’m not going to argue about me over exaggerating, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I hope our leadership issues get worked out, right now it’s lacking and so is the coaching, but it can be that players may not be responding either. We can all agree, right now this team has issues and if things don’t get straightened out, it could be a long season. There is talent on this team and I trust CMW and staff will get it corrected soon. We will take our lumps thru mid-December though. Tom White and J34 2

rcbowla Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 It is not hard to do an assessment of players maximum capability. Also not uncommon. That isn’t writing them off. This is done for all recruting, nba draft etc. No, he wasn’t recruited to be a bench warmer but he wasn’t recruited to be the starting PG. how hard they went after Boogie shows you that. The staff knows he is a solid role player. Nothing wrong with that. This is fair. It's also fair to acknowledge a player, especially with a personality type like Gabe, can progress into something nobody thought possible. Cupps has something in him competitively (not athletically) I haven't seen since Yogi. I'm not betting against Cupps for anything.Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk Ngw7183, Home Jersey, Uspshoosier and 1 other 4

Popular Post Stuhoo Posted November 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2023 From Calbert Cheaney: • On Indiana’s win over Army on Sunday: “Still got a long way to go. There’s a lot of new faces… last night Army came in with a mindset that ‘we’re gonna come at you guys’…The guys underestimated them.” • Cheaney said he thinks the team has responded after the tough week but mentioned a potential disconnect between understanding the film in practice and in the film room to translating it to the game. • Cheaney implored for the need to contest shots from beyond the arc. He said that there’s a notable dropoff in shooting percentage when shots are contested. He mentioned Indiana’s defensive mantra, that whenever someone catches the ball, they need to have a hand on him. • On Indiana’s 3-point shooting, Cheaney thinks Indiana has the shooters to be dangerous. “We have some guys that can really shoot the ball, I think more so than last year.” • On five-star freshman Mackenzie Mgbako: “(He needs to) continue to understand how the game is played… college game is totally different from high school. Pay attention to the details of what coach (Woodson) wants him to do, he’ll be fine.” • Cheaney said this year’s team is more talented than last year’s IU team. “We’re bigger, we’re more athletic, we’re longer… Stay with us, we’re working on it.” • Cheaney on freshman point guard Gabe Cupps: “We call him Iron Man … He’s got one of the best work ethics I’ve ever seen … He’s not the biggest kid, he’s not the fastest kid, but he makes up for it with a huge heart and determination. And that’s rare.” Home Jersey, jepwatso, Uspshoosier and 12 others 12 3

That isn’t trying to beat someone into agreeing, I know they won’t and doesn’t matter. Simply further expressing why I feel the way I do. Doesn’t matter at all who is right. We don’t have any say so. I am simply stating my opinion and feel it is directionally valid when we see fans say the things they do and place guys on pedestals while trashing on other players. We can say we don’t care what rando fans say but I care. I care about human side of this. All that being said, we will see in a few months. If MM is not playing the 4 and CJ is not progressed to where he can give 15/20 really good minutes, we will be lucky to make the tournament. That is my opinion. Always interesting to see how it plays out. Except for me though. I am always right. :) ALASKA HOOSIER and Stuhoo 1 1

He only has the most points scored in B1G history while playing under one of the best coaches ever, spent a over a decade playing in the NBA, has been an assistance coach at both the NBA and NCAA levels, and is currently part of the staff that sees the players practice every day. So why should we listen to what he says? As an anonymous poster on the internet who never even played on my HS team, I think we should ignore what he says and instead freak out after 2 games.
