There literally no reason to keep Woodson. Even the greatest of sunshine pumpers can’t possibly think we will be better next year.  After 3 less than successful years a coach has no recruiting mandate.  That being said I imagine if anything Woody gets an extension because we played so hard that last 90 seconds

I'm not sure that's a good thing since they have to watch that pathetic product. Billy Mays couldn't sell this trash.

Did the AD have to be a former IU guy? Why not hire a AD who's seen what it takes to run successful program in football and basketball? Dolson didn't exactly learn from the best in that department

Painter is a system guy.  Doesn't find the "best" players but finds the right players and puts him into a system for the betterment of the team.  That's why, year in and year out, he's  in the mix.

It does if you keep the last coach's players.  I am starting to think Woody should have just blown it up and started from scratch.

Fanbase would have rioted if he tried that. Our fans are obsessed with familiarity and keeping things together. The Sampson to Crean exodus made that a perpetual fear.

Woody had a chance to let players that have been in the program and losing culture move on and leave.   He decided to convince these guys to come back for another year.   Sometimes no matter how much players have meant to a program it’s just time for them to move on.   Change is scary for coaches and fans but starting fresh without players from a previous culture might have been the move in this case especially with the portal.   The safe and comfortable thing to do is exactly what woody did.   Sometimes clean slate is the better move.    Easy for me to second guess after the fact though

To be fair, in his life time the program went from nothing to the best program in America, at one point, and then back to the festering heap of nothingness it is now.  
 

So maybe there’s some life symmetry…or something…to the whole thing for him.

Last year, I would’ve said good man 2 man defense, and offense that is predicated on making sure your star gets a tough every possession (pretty standard NBA stuff).  
 

I’m not sure what the heck they’re doing this season. They look lazy, unmotivated and play rather dumb basketball most of the time.  
 

I’m generally fine giving a coach a couple years to get going, but the last month of basketball is so bad at the very basics of basketball and competitive sport that I don’t know how the blame gets assigned to anyone but the head coach.
