RaceToTheTop Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Next game against Bethune-Cookman. FWIW, Iowa beat them tonight 89-58. WayneFleekHoosier and southsidehoosier 2 Quote
reconmkd Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Liked the rotations tonight, getting the youngsters plenty of time with a balance of upperclassman to keep things in check. A little shakey during the first, but solid win and the freshman are great so far. thebigweave 1 Quote
Popular Post Barrel Rick Posted November 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 8, 2022 (edited) Hello all, Ricky checkin’ in. After watching this absolute dumpster-fire of a team in their first outing of the year, I have to be honest, you know BR always is.. We suck @$$. It’s time to give up on any hope we had at a 5-win season, because that’s out the window. We play a Morehead State team, with perimeter weapons such as Shannon Sharpe & Kyle Rittenhouse, and Mike doesn’t have these guys stepping up? We’ve been doomed from the start.. My honest opinion after game 1? Abolish the ******* team. I talked to Mike this morning during our 24-Hour Fitness Zumba class, and he informed me that if we don’t win a national championship this year, he’s taking his knowledge of the game to the San Diego Western-Union Technical Institute for The Blind, Black & Lethargic. Can ya’ blame the guy? We’re f*cked. - Rick, 2022; sponsored by Hormel Chili Edited November 8, 2022 by Barrel Rick Barrel Rick, Class of '66 Old Fart, rcbowla and 14 others 8 9 Quote

rcbowla Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Some good, some bad, some wow and some wow. One more tune up then we'll see what this team is made of. Love JHS and Ren man.....they look a step above Trayce when he was a FR. Depth seems real this year. Even with the second unit players I didn't cringe with any of them when they had the ball with a decision to make. I do wonder what would have happened had their PG Freeman?? hadn't gone out in 1st half.Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk HoosierAloha and thebigweave 2 Quote

Last year he would have put up a 1 of 9 shooting performance when things weren't going well. Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Enjoyed that one. Kids had fun. We aren’t the brightest team on the block. Bates, X, and sometimes Geronimo. Some of these guys decisions aren’t so great, but Geronimo deserves a lot of minutes. Reneau (he’s so good) probably deserves a chunk of Race’s minutes but Race and TJD play really well together. Gunn is a legit Gunner. Lol. Pulls up wherever he gets the ball. Banks looked nice in mop up minutes. HoosierHoopster Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Yeah, we’re (actually) deep. I really like the Ren Geronimo combo, monsters, and when JG is playing relaxed, not rushing he needs more minutes. Ren is gonna be a force, one thing to watch in next few games is how he adapts to avoiding fouling as size and strength increase in the other guys - as good as he is he was 1 foul from fouling out tonight. We need him out there. And we need to take advantage of the spacing we create with the guys up front and shoot more 3’s. As these guys gel more we’re only going to get better, just want to see more diversity in our O Joe_hoopsier 1 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Team is deep for sure which we need to be with us losing so much production this year. Not sure I can remember the last time I felt so good about our front count. Redcamaro and thebigweave 2 Quote
cthomas Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 What difference would have this years depth have made to last years record? To me, it's the difference between winning and losing close games. Guys still need to figure out roles and coaches need to figure out who plays the best together. But the pieces are there. I think we get better as the year goes on and we will have a chance to be really good at the end of the year. I also believe we have the right guy leading the program. It's going to be a fun ride. Redcamaro Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 Alot of things to take away from our game tonight. Good and bad. Free throws and 3pt shooting stood out because that is all we have harped about most of the off season. But, our starters were 3 of 5 from distance without X or JHS even attempting one. Free throws tightened up after the 8 min mark of the 1st half. One thing that I will say.. I've been a diehard fan since the early Seventies and I can truly say that this is one of the deepest teams that we have ever put on the floor in 'The Hall'! As the season progresses I look forward to watching this team get better and better. There is absolutely no doubt this is the deepest team in the conference. J34 and Joe_hoopsier 2 Quote

Kopp is good for a couple of overhelps and a few WTF pointing on ball screens resulting in the obligatory "my bad bro." Napleshoosier 1 Quote
Hovadipo Posted November 8, 2022 Posted November 8, 2022 From what I could tell through the awful sound mixing on BTN+, that seemed like an electric crowd for a game against an OVC team even if it was the opener. UNC is in for a long night in a few weeks. reconmkd 1 Quote

I've been coming to a lot of IU games against mid-majors in November and December. This was by far the best crowd I've seen from IU in a game like this. I can't wait to see UNC come to town. thebigweave, Chris007, Hovadipo and 4 others 7 Quote
