Within 2 years of being at UGA, Crean landed top-5 Anthony Edwards. I doubt he got him for free. They wanted to and tried with some positives results, but neither one could walk the walk. One of the biggest asset IU Basketball has right now is a former successful NBA coach with credentials and a former IU All American stud who lived, lives and breathes Indiana BB. We seem to be able to offer everything in recruiting right now. NBA experience, NIL, Family Atmosphere, Connections to big time players in basketball and life, Agents, etc, etc. The only thing we are lacking so far is a history of recent winning. Everything else, we appear to be right there. ray, lillurk, BGleas and 4 others 7 Quote

Aaron Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 FYI I have no idea if this is accurate but Kent Sterling said on his afternoon YouTube video that he has a source saying Boogie is going elsewhere towards the end of him talking: No idea how accurate this is but definitely the first I have heard that this is going against IU. Got teams to overachieve. Then went to IU. Don't believe he got the green light that Woody has. For example...the recruiting staff, the ability to go after recruits no matter where they are. And the freedom to get rid of players that were...ahem...counterproductive to teaming....was limited severely...apparently. Sure he did not produce. But the administration seemed to not support him. One example was the PG he had recruited...and allegedly was told that IU did not want someone that Archie had inked for Dayton. Archie seemed to me to be neutered by the AD. Never got over that. Woody is the right guy at the right time. Maybe. I hope. If we start competing at the highest levels. If we get a PG that is competitive...at the highest levels. Let's see. Come on Boogie. We really think you are special. HoosierDYT 1 Quote

woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Time to start worrying? Sure, IU landed McNeeley but that was a whole hour ago and Fland still hasn't committed. Let's face it, Woodson has lost it and can't recruit. Who has he landed in the last hour since McNeeley? No one! We really think you are special. I was a big fan of the Miller hire. I thought he was a young, second coming of CBK. Didn't work out for whatever reason. CMW is the right guy at the right time. He understands IU basketball in a way that no one has since CBK. He is making the people who questioned if he could transition to college basketball look stupid, including me. It has been 40 years of wandering in the desert, well not quite, to finally find our way again. I feel really good about IU basketball again and it has been a long time since I could say that. tkbbn, Class of '66 Old Fart, Joe_hoopsier and 5 others 8 Quote
