If wishes were horses.........and I don't mean that in a mocking sense.  IMO we're so far into the season that nothing significant is going to change.  Maybe for a half or even 1 full game, we play lockdown defense and crash the boards and the other things you mentioned but how our individual players are playing is so ingrained at this point that they won't change on a consistent basis over our remaining games.

Yeah hoping that a team is going to change after 24 games into the season is just like hoping a 66 year old coach is going to suddenly change the way he constructs a team and implements his playing style.

Not happening.

Tom Coverdale turns 44 today. Seems like just yesterday he was hobbling through a sprained ankle during our crazy 2002 NCAA tourney run.

Not a great player, but pretty good. Seemed like he got the most out of his ability. He went to school years after I did, so I obviously didn't know him. Maybe it was sorta the Huck Finn look, but he always just seemed kinda ornery to me. Not saying that's bad or anything. Just an observation.

Happy Birthday, Tom!

Had a class with him and Fife in 2001, Rec. Management. They both sat in the back with I believe a BB manager and kept to themselves.

Cov could party with the best of them. Whatever bar I’d be at, Cov was there. Didn’t matter what day of the week. Lol.

Competitor! We are missing that quality with much of our recent teams.

True words. This season has worn me down, I don't even care any more. My zest for college bball has left the building.

My realistic wish list for the remainder of this IU basketball season.

  1. Xavier Johnson returns and plays his remaining games without incident.  I want Xavier to graduate and feel like IU is his home.
  2. Kel'el Ware finishes the season strong and is drafted in the 1st round.
  3. MgBako continues to improve, finishes the season strong, and is drafted by an NBA team.
  4. Mike Woodson retires and is able to say that in 3 years he put 4 players in the NBA.

I would add that Woodson is given an opportunity to still be a part of the basketball program in some sort of advisory role. Maybe what Matta did a couple years ago…

The 12th seed in a 14-team tounament ...

Pretty damn big hump!

More games means more wins.

Of course, that would be moot because OSU would win.

I was talking with some friends of mine that are fans of Kansas and Syracuse.  We were joking that IU's only path to the NCAA Tournament this year was by winning the Big Ten Tournament.  They were shocked when I told them that IU has never won the Big Ten Tournament and that we had only been in the tournament final once in the 26-year history of the tournament. Just another sad reminder that we've been a bad program for too long.

If I recall, RMK hated the B1G Tournament so wonder if starting with him it's never been a priority.. that's a big generality I know over all these years, but just always made me think of our lack of success in it that way.

We have 1 recruit coming in next year with at least 2 scholarships open and most likely 4-5 scholarships that will be open.  I have a hard time believing that there isn't a late bloomer in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, or Michigan for IU to offer.  The unwillingness or inability of this staff to find diamonds in the rough to develop is unbelievable.
