I realized who Maryland reminded me of today.  An Archie Miller team.  Uninterested in working for a good shot. Defensive intensity would be there for a bit then wane. And when things weren’t going their way their heads went down.

I had the exact same thought.

NIL money needs to give me Race Thompson for a 6th Covid season. This guy has exploded in development under this staff. F%ck, give me  TJD for one more ( yeah, yeah, I know). In fact, every player has taken a step to big step up and they continue to get better as the season progresses. Under Archie, you pretty much got what you saw game 1 of the season.

It almost seems foreign seeing player development.

It may be the homer in me, but I also feel Woody has a way of having guys understand the wait that will keep Lander and the like around. His decades of success in the NBA, I feel, is often understated, with regard as to how this youth looks at it.

This staff is going to have IU where it belongs as early as next season.I could see a 5-7 year run with Woody and then Dane taking over for a few decades.

If we can keep Trayce, Race and Xavier Johnson. With Bates looking on the cusp and JHS incoming we could be dangerous. Especially if Geronimo can put it all together. Not to mention Trey

1) We are most certainly not keeping all three of those guys.

2) We can be dangerous this year, and next.

TJD isn’t staying.  Race and X probably

Obviously you weren’t around to watch the Bob Knight era during the 70’s-mid 90’s, that was the norm for his teams to improve throughout the year and peak at the right time of the year.  I don’t expect anything less than that from this staff

I'd take that, especially they way they're playing recently. Find an above average transfer big to "replace" TJD and IU has something cooking.

If I’m Geronimo I spend the entire summer shooting 3s and free throws. He has the athletic ability and motor to be a 2 year starter at the 3 or 4.
I haven’t seen a guy his size block shots like he does, both his man and coming from the week side.

I like Race a lot and I think Geronimo has the chance to be better than Race when it’s all said and done

I was in fact around as a freshman for the 1986-87 championship, remember rushing to Showalter fountain  after KS's jumper from a frat house I was watching the game at. If you can't find pleasure in what has been missing from Bloomington since even before BK's departure then i am not sure what to tell you. Absence has made this mind fonder.

I was there as a junior, Showalter was amazing, couldn’t see pavement or grass all the way to the Union, and I might’ve taken that fish….

By no means should a win over an average Maryland team mean we go crazy and celebrate in the streets but this is the kind of game this program has lost the 5 previous seasons. It is tough to win on the road in the Big Ten. I think right now the biggest thing for this team is the emergence of Xavier Johnson. It was either after the Penn State or Iowa loss where I called him a bust. I'm happy to be wrong on that one. He's been terrific since the Purdue win. Playing at an all Big Ten level. I think for this team to take the next step they need Kopp and Stewart to get going. I thought at the start of the year both guys would be averaging double figures. Really need to find ways to get the ball in their hand.

I’m excited about this game. I’ll be up close and personal for this one.

I saw on stub hub a decent deal on a ticket in the main concourse... I will be there. I've never been to a Big Ten game at Assembly Hall. I was close to buying a ticket to the Purdue or Illinois game...way too expensive for what I was wanting to pay. I can't wait to go to this game! If anyone is going to this game I'd be down to meet up at Nick's before the game.

Kaleb Banks?  Not sure how IU gets a portal transfer, with three signed recruits for 2022, and all players on the current roster with at least one more year of eligibility.  Have to have three on this year's team leave to make room for 2022 recruits.

Kopp and Stewart will never be above average defenders or adequate ball handlers.

When the games are on the line we will regularly roll with TJD, Race, X, Gallo, Scoop, Jordan G, and Phin.

That’s a strong seven, and defensively that’s as good a seven as we’ve seen since Bobby Knight was coach.

Really…Trayce, Race, X, Phin, Gallo, and Jordan is an incredible defensive top six players.

No doubt this is an elite defensive team. I'd just like to see them get going, especially early in a game. It's not February yet but I hope this is the kind of team that peaks at the end of the season.

Can't remember did one or two fish go missing for a bit? On a side note, as a junior we rented a house on E 8th a few blocks from Kilroy's, anyway I woke up one morning near Little 5  week and found a helium take from  the IU golf course in our living room.  We had black garbage bags of sqeaky voice juice on our ceiling all week during parties.  Ahh, for the simpler days.
