Anyone else think our offense was noticeably worse with Phin at PG? Seems like he's still in the Archieball mindset of dribbling the air out of the ball and limited movement. Hoping XJ limits his foul trouble this season.

Which is a bit crazy because while Archie couldn’t get them to play another way he didn’t want it either

Josh was the first on this board to have called out Archie and it wasn’t close.     Why would he have to eat crow over an opinion? If you were insulted and called names why did you stay here and post or better yet why did you come back?

Haha pretty sure Josh immediately changed his tagline from Fire Tom Crean already this is embarrassing! to Fire Archie already this is embarrassing! or something along those lines

was kinda comical

I’m not even saying fire Woodson or anything but this team still has a lot of influence of Archie on it.  Let’s manage expectations so we don’t get surprised

There is a reason Kenpom has us at 8th in the big ten.

No I get it. I was just commenting on him saying Josh was the first to call out Archie.

This team has a lot to prove, last night was a good step but there were still a lot of lingering issues. I think most people can see that but they still like to enjoy the win that is all.

We don’t need this kind of press. Unnecessary.

Well then maybe St Johns shouldn’t have tried getting under TJD’s skin with it first. They brought it up so it’s fair game

Yeah have to give Josh the nod on that one. He may have hung on to Crean way too long but I think he called Archie the day he was hired.

See I enjoy the win. But at the end of the day our goal isn’t to win some non conference game at home in November.   I’m more concerned about how we looked and how I think that translates to our bigger goal.

Had we controlled the game and maintained an 8-14 point lead all the way through the second half I would feel alot better.  Had we done that by hitting our FTs I would be ecstatic.

We shall see. Even Archie was able to be relatively successful in the non conference.

As I said it’s not negativity. Archie was relatively successful in the non conference each year.  The question we face is can you be successful in the Big Ten If you can’t hit 3s or FTs.  I am very skeptical that a team can be.

I certainly shared my opinions when we hired Woodson and get wanting to temper expectations, but in fairness with Miller we'd be 1-2 right now instead of 3-0.  A lot of things need to improve though.

I understand. I did watch both Illinois and Michigan lose to teams that didn't appear to be of the quality of St. John's so that does give me some confidence that IU will be just fine in the big ten this year. Do I know that for certain, no. But I am optimistic with what I have seen from the rest of the conference so far and from IU that we will be very competitive.

I did not feel that way last year.

IU's lack of defense in the 2nd half almost lost the game.

I thought at times in the second half that the defense was a little slow to react. Like a little of the urgency was missing. We were also getting beat to loose balls quite a bit. That said, CMW seemed pretty pleased with the defense in his post game interview. So, what do I know.

Has UM lost yet? Has Illinois? Where does Kenpom have them? Kenpom ratings mean next to nothing at this point in the year, they factor in last year's stats. No idea where we'll end up at the end of the year, but winning a close game after having a large lead against a solid team (and I think a tourney team) does not signal weakness, imo.

Translation. Let us live in our fantasyland we don’t want differing opinions

NO ONE is curtailing your right to have a differing opinion.

Differing opinions are funny things; you are certainly allowed to express yours, and many others are allowed to disagree with THEIR differing opinions.

Let's not get to a point where you have a differing opinion, and thereafter no one is allowed to dissent. That wouldn't really be allowing differing opinions now, would it?

Can we knock off the pettiness? I know I’m to blame for some of it so here’s to me owning up to it. One of the main reasons I like this site is the ability to have differing opinions backed by some evidence WITHOUT the global immaturity.

We are 3-0 with a good win against St. John’s. Great!

We have slipped up in some areas and continue to struggle with some basics good teams posses.

Both of these things can be true, your opinion is valued. Your BS can be thrown in the ocean (if you can hit it)
