CBB as a hole last night shot the 3 at 31% I saw this morning. SO maybe it was first-game jitters for everyone. But I would have been thrilled for us to be at 31% last night.

It's also likely an affect from them moving the 3 point line back as well. It will take some games for players to get adjusted to shooting from that distance in game.

If we are going to shoot a lot of 3s which I’m perfectly good with, need to have 2 guys crash the boards or some strategy to rebound missed 3s better.  Our offensive rebounding was awful.

I didn’t see much to free up Kopp and Stewart for open catch and shoot threes. Those two should take 10 a game and really limit the amount coming from the others.

as you pointed out, nobody was even around or attempting to grab an offensive bird on the majority of shots. That’s not a great recipe for success

I understand all that. But man... We need shooters more than ball handlers and Galloway's shot is beyond broke. We already have Johnson on the court, Galloway isnt much different.

Woody is more focused on defense right now and that's why Galloway is in the rotation. Lander and Leal are going to get opportunities to show they should get minutes as well. They just have to capitalize on those and not crap the bed. That 9 man rotation is likely to change several times throughout the season.

That's a great point and one I forgot about.

What makes you think Lander is a shooter? I saw plenty of air balls last year that would tell me he isn’t

Pretty sure this is the third year with the line moved back. Doubt that has much to do with it

OK, we'll obviously see.

I will be more than happy to "eat my words" if I'm wrong, but I bet he gets 15-18+ points against us.

If he gets 17 points on 6-21 shooting he will not have created his own shot well. (now watch him go all IUFW and hit 6-9 threes -- no wait, if he gets close to that Woody will put Fife in if he has to.).

Noah Farrakhan ended up with 18 points on 5-21 shooting. (3-7 from 3pt.)

Mike Woodson stated he is using this game as a teachable moment.  Let’s see how we improve each game.  That is something we haven’t seen for quite some time with the previous coaching staff.  A trademark of a Knight coached team is their improvement throughout the season, I expect that will happen under Woodson.

I got a kick out of Coach Woodson sitting and showing little emotion.  No doubt that 1st game thoughts were on his mind.  That and maybe how to differentiate his tenure from that of others at IU.  And he probably wanted to keep somewhat detached and objective to learn this new team.

As an aside, he may have been channeling the Wizard of Westwood.  Envision Woodson = Wooden!

I liked how he called timeouts a couple of times to chew on some behinds.

Nope. They moved it back for a 2nd time entering this season.

I am pretty sure it was just the women's. they moved it back to international to match the men's. that is why there is now only 1 line on the court.

That will continue too!

Think he started out 0-11 though so I'd say he finished very strong. Could be wrong but I know for a fact it was at least 0-9.

So after I slept on it I'm still discouraged. I have to separate what transpired with Archie and Woody's start here because that's not fair to Woody but man that was disappointing. The first half wasn't bad and had some very encouraging moments but the 2nd half was no bueno. Let's hope things look better Friday and going forward there is continued improvement.
