cleeter Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I think that is bad for both Maryland and IU because it will allow more teams to get involved and pollute the process!Very bad for Maryland I would think. Not great for us but not end of the world I hope. With Kansas and Houston still involved, you never know what ground they could make up if it goes into the spring. HinnyHoosier Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 This is easy for me to say because I'm a grown man and my life's path is already determined -- but I'm going to say it anyway: I'm ready for this recruitment to wrap up and be out of the way regardless of who he chooses. I can't put my finger on it but this one has just gotten under my skin to the point I'm feeling pretty indifferent about it. Tom White, thebigweave, pumpfake and 2 others 5 Quote

If he’s not sold by now there probably aren’t new variables that will change the equation. Possibly... it's also possible 3 weeks ago he was signing for Maryland this week and Woodson's visit made him hold off. thebigweave, J34 and Ngw7183 2 1 Quote

Woody has said having TJD was great but created a need to run a different offense than he preferred. So that begs the question, what will his offense really look like. It could also be that DQ just has trouble making a decision. He will have options and can basically go anywhere so waiting does not hurt him much but would be tough to continue to invest in him exclusively as your #1 big. Quote

Maryland is the one where there is nothing else they can do. They had the “home town discount” if you will. In Woodys voice, “well again” - This comes down to us having a solid year and TJD doing well (as he has been), JHS and MM getting going wouldn’t hurt either. He is saying, ok IU, I am there to spurn my long time love, but not 100. Show me more. Would assume the issue here is roster construction. With Reneau and Sparks almost certainly in place, if for whatever reason Ware doesn’t go after this year the fit for Queen doesn’t make a bunch of sense. In the spring you’ll have clarity. ray, thebigweave, lillurk and 5 others 8 Quote

I see no way in which Ware doesn’t declare and become a 1st Round Pick. I think that’s been the plan all along. When the season is over, he may even had earned lottery status. If Reneau’s defense improves significantly with the rest of the team and he shows he can consistently shoot some from outside, he may declare as well. The kid can score, so I think his biggest question mark is defense. I’m interested to see how Coach gets him to make that improvement. Ngw7183 1 Quote

IU_FanClub Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I'm ready for this one to be over and I hope we never recruit against Maryland again. The obsession on peegs with the Maryland board has reached a point of being totally pathetic and it's completely dominated every thread. There is no reason at all we should give any sort of **** what Maryland fans think. If we lose this one we will make it up on the back end in the spring, if they lose this one they are screwed. Just overall shocked at the level of real estate some IU fans have let maryland purchase in their heads thebigweave, WayneFleekHoosier and cleeter 3 Quote

I am on the very high end of Reneau admirers around here, love him, but if he goes from where he is now to draftable in the next 6 months, that would amazing and bode incredibly well for the season. And Ware’s in the exact state he was 12 months ago and he melted down. I like his chances for success much better here, but he’s gotta do it. Regardless, I completely get why Queen would want to watch it play out rather than just jumping in. IUHoosier5 1 Quote
Popular Post Josh Posted November 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 10, 2023 I know a lot of fans don't like it, but if I was a top player who could go anywhere, I absolutely wouldn't pick until the late signing period. I'd want to know roster construction and coaching staffs. So much of that changes/becomes more clear late in the year HoosierDYT, Ngw7183, Hollywood Mike Miranda and 11 others 13 1 Quote

It's not great for IU but honestly he is torn. If I was Maryland I would be worried. Guess my only thing with Maryland is they have Reese probably coming back next year. Here at IU it is anticipated we lose Ware so he would take over the 5 spot. Totally understand why he wants to see the season play out. Kansas makes zero sense IMO. Houston worries me but it sounds like they are a distant third. I'll give credit to Rabby. He's had a very good pulse on this recruitment. Quote
JSHoosier Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 If Willard was surprised to not get him when the signing period started then there's no way he likes hearing that news. He's just not certain. This at least gives IU a chance to show how much the team gels and how well Ware and Reneau do under Woodson and staff. Dave from Dayton, bigrod, Ngw7183 and 2 others 4 1 Quote

The power is diminished. If you trust the staff you are going to they don’t recruit over you in the TP so lock up that spot while your in demand. ‘24 recruitng has turned out the be exactly like ‘23 recruting. Spring recruiting, here we come. ray 1 Quote
IUHoosier5 Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Rob Cassidy said it’s “probably” not great news for Maryland. If Ware and Reneau can show further development, I think it has to be IU. To me, all signs indicate this is Queen’s thought process. Ngw7183, thebigweave and Dave from Dayton 2 1 Quote
