IU Scott Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 I really don't know why anyone would want to coach college basketball in this day and age social media. Fans act like they have the right to just bash people and make it personal. woodenshoemanHoosierfan 1 Quote

Whaaaat?! 1) stupid to bash people and make it personal anywhere 2) they make millions, I doubt it says anywhere in their contract that they have to read social media 3) I'm sure many people have had to deal with a lot worse than those big bad meanies on social media for far less than coaching college basketball str8baller and MikeRoberts 2 Quote

He knows it’s a losing battle, but he tries to steer his players away from social media too. Quote

I meant coaches having to deal with players being on social media and reading what fans are saying about them. We have no idea what is going on in these players life. Maybe a player has a few bad games it is because they are having some personal problems or something with their families. Sounds like the few games XJ played bad was during the time his grandfather lady away. woodenshoemanHoosierfan 1 Quote

However, it's a fantastic opportunity for coaches to mold these young men. Quote

It just seems like a hard way to live with all the pressure to win quickly. The amount of time you have to spend away from your family. That you have to kiss the @$$ of 17-18 year old players to come to your school and dealing with all of their hangers on. Quote

Unlike a lot of people on this forum, I don't hate Alford, and the guy can recruit, I wouldn't be surprised if he had some level of success here, but he would divide the fan base and we have been through too much of that lately. As much as I like Woody, I'm not sure he is the answer either..... My problem with Alford is that he’s been given the chance twice in major confs and has been lackluster both times. Very good mid major coach, but not the level of coach that will succeed at IU. JerryYeagley23, RoadRage and lillurk 2 1 Quote

If we are willing to spend, truly, we will get a top notch coach. Simple as that. Not too many 3-4 million a year coaches that will turn down 8 million a year. A few will but, identifying that right guy is the problem. Needs to be a proven winner, who is very confident in himself. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners At this point it's an administration problem more than anything. They can spend all the money they want but until they replace this woke administration who wants to lose the right way rather than play the game nothing changes. Just curious, you folks that use the term “administration,” who specifically are you talking about that you want replaced? IU Scott 1 Quote
