Lot of talk about the assistants. I'm generally curious if Fife would be willing to leave his Associate HC role at Michigan State to join the staff. I'd love it if he would, but I'm not convinced he wouldn't wait out Izzo.

Why not just go all in and support Woodson?  for all those that prefer Oats, Musselman, Beard etc, how many more Championships do they have?

Woodson has forgot more about hoops than they know.  He understands the game..period.  Can't even argue that.  He has been around the upper echelon of Basketball for the past 25 years, even a moron would benefit from this type of experience.  Does this relate to success Coaching at IU, we will find out.

I'd think from a recruiting standpoint this is pretty awesome.  Very Successful playing career, both College and NBA with tons of NBA Coaching experience, that HAS to play well with recruits and parents who have "next level" playing aspirations. Matta will certainly be able to help fill the gaps in the "College Basketball process's" that Woodson lacks.  Seems to me they have already addresses that "what is lacking" with this hire question.

I doubt Woodson is doing this for money or career development, probably has more to do with just loving the University and the program.  Maybe that has been the "missing ingredient" over the last 12-15 years?

It could always be worse, but, honestly how much worse could it get?

I’m not watching. I’ll look at the box score, but that’s pretty much it. Going to watch IU basketball used to be fun, but all of you feel it. There’s just something wrong with the program.  Yeah he might succeed but why are we always settling  and get gaming chances ?

I’m with you. I’ll never give up on my Hoosiers and cross my fingers Thad and Woody can turn this ship around. I’ll also be here to gripe and moan along the way, especially if we end up right where we are in a dumpster fire.

How much are we paying Woody?

I'd say $3 million is fair. He needs to prove he can do this on the college level. Throw in the typical bonuses and stuff of course. 

Let's not have a huge buy-out in year 4, PLEASE!

Michigan State has two associate head coaches -- Dwayne Stephens and Dane Fife.  Stephens has been there like seventeen years and I believe has been an associate head coach for seven more years than Fife.  I think most people believe Stephens is the next coach.

Woodson has a TON of coaching experience and knows how to deal with varying personalities and games. I feel like he can use various styles unlike our last two coaches. He should be able to game plan well and find matchup advantages as that is what most assistants do in the NBA. With Matta we now have someone with a Knight coaching tree history and The Butler Way. Let’s ******* go!!!
