So let me get this straight is that the last week has been a total mirage.  It was Stevens to IU is a done deal and then it leaked so Brad went on TV to make a fool of himself.  He called himself a Masshole and that he is not a kid any more so going home is not what it use to be.  Then we went on and a rumor came out that we were going to hire Matta but that turned out to be wrong.  Then came the rumors about it being an IU guy with Woodson or Cheaney being the next coach.  With these rumors the fan base went nuts saying IU basketball is dead for ever. So all of this past week was just a cover up to give brad more time to leave, so is this correct.

Is that just some made up deadline? 

Sort of. There was a theory that Stevens committed to stay through the trade deadline, which was yesterday, and Beard has been out of the tournament for a week. It doesn’t seem logical to keep delaying if we’ve got our person. But who knows?

Well yeah but the way you explain it, doesn't sound as good as the way we like to think of it on The BRAD TRAIN

Keep in mind, the donor that agreed to pay the buyout and the donor that agreed to pay transition costs did so prior to any of these potential candidates making it this far in the tournament.  And I hold strong on my thought that if it were an IU guy or Beilein, they'd be signed by now. Therefore....BRAD ******* STEVENS! Chugga chugga CHOO CHOO!

This is based primarily on 0708 intel that said expect heavy denials. His intel is generally accurate, but the denial was so heavy even he gave up on Brad last Friday. But evidently all sources have gone dark since then, so we on the Brad train are wondering if maybe there’s a chance the last intel was right after all. Combine that with some other stuff posted about tomorrow and some of us are definitely in the “I want to believe “ camp like agent Moulder on x files. At any rate, SD is playing it closer to the vest than the cigarette smoking man.

I just found this prophecy from Nostradamus that I think explains everything:

It seems pretty obvious to me that this means that 12 days after Archie is fired, IU will hire Brad Stevens (who is from Zionsville), and give us five more National Championships.

I still remain skeptical about this. But saying it's true, can anyone come up with a convincing reason of why Brad needs to wait? I get if he's going to coach it out to the end of the season, but why would this week vs. last week vs. next week possibly make any difference? I understand that getting out of his current contract could take some time, but that wouldn't really explain the extreme denial he gave last week, or the current speculation that the 27th or 5th (or whatever) has been the date for weeks. If I could hear a plausible explanation beyond just "contracts...", I'd be more inclined to reboard the Brad Train.
