UC is not an easy job. The fans here (I live in Cincinnati) still haven’t gotten over Huggy’s dismissal. Cronin was never good enough.

Not always.  Depends on the personality of the coach in waiting and the personality of the head coach.  Can lead to team disruption as much as a smooth transition.  It can lead to conflicting authority.  At the same school we are talking about, it didn't work on the football end when Danny Hope was hired to transition to head coach in 2008.  Tiller won 8 games in 2006 and in 2007...never produced a winning season in the transition year or Hope's four years.
