Put together a list of “successful” African American coaches. He’s on it along with Ed Cooley, Anthony Grant, Tommy Amaker. Lamont Paris would have been on the list last season as SEC COY. He would have gotten a very strong look with his Midwest and B1G history. Not saying IU will hire anyone on this list, but there is some pressure to hire an African American coach. May not be enough to ultimately win out.

I guess that depends on your definition of success when it comes to Gates....Amaker has some success definitely but not seasons where he won ZERO games in conference....come on....thats ****....he aint a candidate.... Buddy, that list of successful AA coaches probably carries about as much weight as a Buzzfeed list. Don’t doubt there’s a pocket of people pushing for it… there’s a bunch of pockets of people pushing for candidates. They’re just going to hire the best one this time. They already shoved a candidate down our throats in Woody. From Dolson’s perspective, if he struck out on all of the big names, which is most likely considering how it went last year for UL, UK, Turgeon is the safest candidate compared with most others being discussed. Another bridge hire to get IU consistently winning again(albeit at mediocre levels) & save Dolson from missing or having high risk hires like Beard, Wade, McCollum, etc fail miserably on or off the court. I think it will be AWFUL if it happens, but considering all things it’s not all that unlikely imo. I’ll be devastated but not shocked. Kentuckysucks, Scotty R and JPCIVOP 2 1
