I wouldn't be opposed to Cronin as about 8th or so on the list. But his buyout is $16 million. Unless UCLA is desperate enough to lower that by 70-80%, that simply isn't happening.

Then probably about a 6 seed this year

I don't really care about conference standings when comparing to a 3-bid Pac 12.

Apparently, it drops to $10M at the end of the month. Still very high. I don't buy the whole possible loophole thing.

You can make your reasoned argument below the bold without the bold. If you dropped the snark, people would probably agree when you make a good point, which the second paragraph is as to why it could be different this time. Instead, you start by making a completely unnecessary comment when the Post Office was just sharing a specific reason it might not be likely.

I don't think we can afford to wait until April 1 to name a coach. Especially not for Cronin.

I thought the ah for 1971 meant assembly hall. Lol I guess it stands for something else. Anyhow everyone seems fired up in here today. No need to fight and argue. We are close to finding out who the coach will be. I bet things pick up towards end of next week

Absolutely true. The Pac12 programs needed money and the B1G bailed them out. The coaches and players, though, had  to pay the price with the travel. I’d encourage everyone to look at the conference travel schedules for MI, MSU, WI & PU vs UCLA and OR. Until they make every eastern and central time zone teams play all of the former Pac12 teams every year, it’s not close to a fair schedule. 
 

Cronin signed his extension before UCLA joined the B1G. His attorneys may have a very strong case for reducing his buyout. Especially, if there are incentives for conference titles, which would be standard.

I know a certain staff member thats been with him for a very long time that would probably like the 20 min drive from Bloomington to home to see his family. However I still think it’s very unlikely Cronin wants the IU job.   Just my opinion
