Please don't compare Scott Drew to Tom Crean.  That's extremely insulting to Scott Drew.  He built Baylor until a national contender from nothing and has kept it there for 14 consecutive years. 

He's one of the best coaches in college basketball.

I listen to the Field of 68. At first, I thought it was Goodman trying to get his buddy a raise. He just got one in December so I don't think it's that. IF he's a realistic choice for IU, I'd put him at 2 behind Scott Drew and ahead of Mick Cronin.

So that's all true; I should be more clear. I meant to say that over the last three years, Drew's teams have not looked like the elite, title-contending teams he has built at Baylor to this point. Advanced numbers the last six years, according to Torvik are attached. Last three look a lot different from the three previous. Would prefer that IU hires a coach who would direct a defense ranked higher than 75-100 in opponent points per possession.

Drews teams are kind of the opposite where they struggle with defense at times. But if you have to be top 25 in both Deff and Oeff to win a title, Drew has built a bunch of those. Otz has a chance to get there this year…maybe…but it would be his first one.  
 

I'm not the world’s biggest Drew fan, but I’m probably at the bottom of this boards Otz’s fan club. I’ve also probably watched ten or less ISU games the past two seasons, so I probably don’t know what I’m talking about. Disregard this message.

I ran the numbers some time ago but it basically came down to any tournament team near the top 50 in each after playing 6 tournament games against top competition and playing well enough to win will get into the top 25 of each at the end.  I believe Duke had an me rating at like 89th pre tournament that went to under 25 so don't get too hung up on those numbers.  They mean nothing now or even pre tournament.

John Fanta, with Field of 68 and Fox Sports, went on Pardon My Take and predicted Otzelberger to IU. Just interesting after Goodman's comments Friday night and Rabjohns tonight. You may not like them, but the Field of 68 is probably the best there is at covering our sport (give them a shot. It's not just Goodman on there). Not saying it'll be TJ. It's just worth keeping an eye on. TJ I think would be as close to a "grand slam" hire as we could get. His teams the last few years have improved so much offensively. My only concern is they have a legit Final Four contending team. I just don't see a coach taking a team to the final four and leaving that same year. Kind of hope they make Sweet 16 and get beat for that sake.

Fanta is the best in the biz.  I don't think he has any inside info, but he's the main reason to watch the Field of 68.

Goodman is fine he’s just an @$$ sometimes like everyone else in life lol. I enjoy the show. Fanta is my favorite. Once Rabby puts Otz on the hot board I’ll start believing a little bit more.
