General Coach Candidate News

Why can’t people STFU?  That’s huge news to just go blabbering about before it’s official.

He has subscriptions to sell. If you have a following online nowadays, you can make great money.

IU coaching search means his site traffic has probably tripled since the Woody announcement. Coaching searches get us juiced up. We've had nothing else to get excited about. Leaking info/putting out tidbits hits peoples emotions and get more subscribers.

We have real problems if a booster told Rabby that IU and Stevens had an agreement and he made it up or didn’t corroborate that with any other boosters first. Rabby says that happened but he could never confirm and was inaccurate.

A delusional booster leaking false info is not out of the realm of possibility.

Unsure whether he will lose players as ND struggles, but at least Coach Shrewsberry shows some passion.

We toss around IU's NIL in many posts - but which would you take

1) A top 2 or 3 coach in the game but only 1/2 the current NIL

2) Top NIL in the country and slightly above average coach

I am on my lunch and can't quite read everything from this morning till now. Last I seen we were ramping up the Steven's train again! That's still a thing as of now?

1.

For 2 - I feel like we're seeing the results of what NIL and an average coach yields.....and I don't like it.

I vote for 1. If we have a great coach the NIL would increase over time. If NIL is propping up an average coach we’ll be a frustrated fan base once again.

As long as Brad Stevens lives and breathes and it will always be a thing.

Why do they have to be independent of each other.  I would think one would attract the other so to speak.  But I would take a top coach.  A top 5 coach can get top teams from average to above average players.

I'm skeptical, to say the least, but nothing wrong with posters having some fun with the idea until IUBB smashes our hopes again.

Question:  Would they really announce a coaching change before the end of the season?

Theoretically, if it is Brad and the media is beating his door down, he (nor anyone else) is publicly accepting the IU position with someone still in that post.  Now, the minute after the season has ended...the gloves are off.

In our situation (with no NCAA tournament in our future), I think they would at the end of the regular season, before the conference tournament, if the new guy doesn't have his own tournament obligations (that's your Brad Stevens story).  Get a jump on the staff, portal and roster.  Otherwise, nothing get's announce before the new guy is available to actually start the job -- which is most likely.   So earliest would be Monday or Tuesday after the First Round of NCAA, unless the guy make a deep run (Dusty May, et. al.).
