General Coach Candidate News

Recommended Posts

Appreciate all the info everyone is sharing. While I’m hopeful, because of last time and just how things have gone since Knight was ousted, trying not to get too excited until it’s truly final. Huge shoutout to the insiders for sharing what they are hearing, because they could keep quiet if they wanted.

Here’s to some amazing news we get to hear in the very near future.

I was texting @Naturalhoosier (just now lol), and the thought of what Stevens could do here is insane to think about. Has all the potential to turn this once great program to a top powerhouse every year. I did say potential, because nothing is a guarantee, but the potential is there!

Regardless who becomes coach, and whether we love it or not, we still need to get behind and support them. Last thing we want or need is to be right back here in 4 years praying to mystical white whale!

when do you anticipate a signing? From my understanding (rumors/sources) its a formality at this point

Granted I don't have real sources outside of what I read here...just hard for me speak in those terms yet given last time.

Will be over the moon if Dolson pulls it off, of course.

^^Bingo^^

If Fran coaches this year and next year, he could be the perfect successor there.

And, if we hire Mick Cronin, Buzz Williams, Chris Beard (Yes, I said Beard), etc. then Iowa is going to be kicking our backside for years to come.

Brother, if this is all true, you have reached legend staus on this board in a very short time.  If it doesn't come to fruition, you might want to plan a vacation. Lol.

Thanks for all the info!

He will have to swim with the fishes if this isn't true

If all of this works out, how does Braylon Mullins feel?

Of course he'll go to UCONN and play for currently the best college coach.

But seeing Brad Stevens go to his home state school would have to be tough. He'd be a virtual God in his home state. He would probably make more NIL at IU and the only coach who is arguably on Hurley's level right now would Stevens due to his high-level of success in both college and the pros.

It would have to hurt a little, at least...

Think there was some speculation in this thread yesterday that the whole AAU call with Indiana Elite may have been signaling for those coaches to get a sense for what Braylon would think if Stevens came... Maybe getting the ball rolling on back channeling for roster building... Whether it nets us Mullins or not, it's exciting to think about, if it comes to fruition...

Pretty sure Mullins is too young to remember Stevens at Butler personally
