How does she have a bite mark on her arm? Did beard just go up and bite her arm? No she likely jumped on his back and he did it in self defense. Man took a risk on crazy *****......it happens, understandable.....and it always almost certainly ends in chaos.... jonz44 1

I’ll end with this. To the dismay of the small yet very loud minority, Beard would be supported and win here. He’s always been a viable candidate. I also trust Dolson, to make the right decision whoever the coach may be.

I don't care if it was "self-defense" or not. If you're immediate reaction is to lay hands on a person for breaking something a simple as your reading glasses, let alone your freaking fiance, you forfeit the right to coach basketball at Indiana. And while I have never seen anything about assaulting his wife, I do know that he did the following. - Assaulted a police officer in Puerto Rico - "Choked" Neil Reed - Shoved an LSU fan Those are a few I can think of. And I'm not saying this justifies Beard, I'm just stating that Coach Knight had his own faults that probably wouldn't pass today's pre-employment background checks. That doesn't even scratch the surface of how garbage of a human being Knight was. Like you said, I am not endorsing Beard or hand waving what he did. Just pointing out the hypocrisy that we as a collective fan base was, and still is ok with ignoring the terrible person Bob Knight was. jonz44 and Ctf9 2

That suggests that it might not be a coordinated business meeting. At least we don't have to worry about jets going to White Plains, NY this go around . Just hope the stay away from South Carolina (Brownell) and Iowa (McCollum) between now and the 1st week of April. Chris007 1

Ghost of Rick Majerus Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Let's have some fun today while we wait for Dolson to cross the T's on Brad's contract. I think we need to start a new bingo card that has the following phrases. "I'll eat crow" - I never encounter this phrase in any other aspect of my life but on this message board. "High Ceiling" "Low Ceiling" "Floor" "Domestic violence" "Done Deal" "Sources" CSP, Ryno6284 and thebigweave 2 1

Popular Post Alistair Smash Posted March 7 Popular Post Posted March 7 I believe Beard is a terrific coach and would be successful at IU. I believe in second chances. I also believe any consideration of Beard must be made with GREAT scrutiny. I am happy that so many on this board have not lived through a domestic violence situation. For those of us who have been involved with DV investigations from a law enforcement standpoint, the public information related to Beard’s arrest demands a thorough investigation by the university. There exist questions related to liability if a new incident were to arise along with legitimate concerns as to the university’s reputation. I would caution those that dismiss these allegations out of hand. It’s sometimes easier if you ask what your mother or sister would’ve done if the allegations were true, just to look at it from a different point of view. Recanting victims are unfortunately commonplace in these situations. I know our culture is moving away from and discarding expertise which is a separate rant on its own. But there are professionals that IU can draw on to further consider the facts surrounding the incident, and whether they believe, even if true, Beard has taken steps to rehabilitate himself. I’m all for giving him a look. IU just needs to tread with extreme caution, and we all would do better, myself included, to take domestic violence allegations seriously.
