Possible (though as I’ve said, I can tell you it’s not Brad). But again, if so, why? What would be the reason for such secrecy if it’s someone from the nba world? Maybe you don’t formally announce it, but surely there’d be leaks because keeping it secret doesn’t matter that much when the outgoing coach is already known to be “retiring”. The earlier you can start fundraising off the back of the new guy, the better. The earlier prospexrive transfers know, the better. (This is why the duke assistant is already known to be taking the Miami job and why he’s not even going to stay on duke staff  through the tourney. Earlier it’s announced, the better…only reason you wouldn’t is that it’s a current college head coach.)

For what it's worth, I've been told even if Dolson has an agreement with a coach, nothing will be announced until the team is done playing for the year.  Now I guess that can change if the team somehow makes a run in the tournament and is still playing when the transfer portal opens on the 24th.

Two names getting serious consideration are Dennis Gates and Anthony Grant. The major donors are acutely aware that there are only two African American coaches in the 18 team B1G. They don’t like that Woodson is being forced out and Ben Johnson may be out at MN. They don’t want the B1G to be all white coaches. Think the optics are terrible. They’d like to have Shaka in the mix, but don’t think he’ll leave Marquette. They’d love Tommy Amaker, but his record in recent seasons is a tough sell. Don’t count out Shrews either.

OK, this has to be a troll job. No way Anthony Grany is getting serious consideration. And Shrewsberry has won like 40% of his games at Notre Dame.

I appreciate the sarcasm, but I’ll be glad once the head coaching search is over. Either Brad ends up the coach or we can finally put the Brad Stevens hopes/conspiracies to bed once and for all.

Anytime someone mentions anything positive about Stevens multiple people show up to discount it but that never happens with any other candidate.

Providing fair and reasonable context around something you assert is a “positive” is not unfairly “discounting it” just because it undermines your assertion.

Definitely not a troll job. Never said they are the only candidates, but they are on the list

I've literally racked up 10's of thousands of posts over the last 15 years between the old scout site, the different variations of HSN and here.

I'm not an IU fan? Ok!

It’s your tone.  Anytime someone even mentions Brad you act like someone is trying to have an affair with your wife.  Stop being so defensive.

And no, I don’t think we’re getting Brad either but there are many reasons he would be interested and our timing has never been better.

You'll be yearning for Cronin once Brownell or McCollum are hired.

Who will IU play in the S16 this year? What do you think IU’s seed will be if they make it in? 11 seed with a play in game? Gonna make the trip for that one too? Hopefully not another blowout. Please, let us all look into your crystal ball! Your track record is amazing!

'It... will... never... be... Brad...'

Also I don't think Dolson is using the timing of the portal as a determining factor in the hire.  It's part of it but it's not a must.  Short term vs long term, you don't base this off of the portal timing for this year.
