General Coach Candidate News

1) I do not think it's going to be easy for any coach that comes to IU.

2) I am telling people to get off their high horse and not to look down at a guy that could absolutely be a viable candidate.

Not on anyone's search list? Today, ESPN cited a 'full disclosure under anonymity panel of "more than a dozen industry sources involved in the coaching carousel: agents, power brokers, etc. We polled them on the top five names they think are ready to move during the 2025 coaching cycle. The only criteria: The coaches couldn't have been at the high-major level previously, and they couldn't be clients of the voter."

And Alan Huss was the second most qualified out of 20 named. Ahead of Schertz, McMillan, McCollum, etc. So if we decide to go the mid-major route?

I will respectfully say there is zero chance that IU is ‘hopping on the Huss Bus’.  I have stated that he is a good X and O coach….but there are quite a few of those guys.  But I also wouldn’t call high point a mid major.  They are low major.

I still keep coming back to the one poster whose kid talked with Brads parents somewhere. IU was brought up and his dad said Brad could never do that to Butler! That cuts deep, also is why I’ve moved on from Brad. Would love to be surprised though!

But Scott Drew might.

Jackal, I have been trying to prep the board for the inevitable this whole week. The Beard train is gaining major momentum each day. Those with previous concerns seem to be finding some grace within their hearts to open up to the idea of him leading the Hoosiers. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. What once seemed as a long shot, seemingly doesn't seem so long anymore.

Chug...chug...choo...choo...

This statement does not even make sense in my mind.  Do what to Butler?  He is not leaving them.  He already left them a long time ago.  Is there anyone in the world that views Butler as a better place than Indiana?

This always happens around coach hiring cycles. We get an influx of outside posters who are here to feed off of the info. When things don’t pan out they get vitriolic.

That usually dies down early into the offseason and this site gets back to its original core of posters (+/- a few new faces) that get along just fine.

just have to bite down on the leather for now.

I’ll have you know I’ve been vitriolic for years towards all shapes and sizes of pans.

You should feel sorry for a guy that keeps coming back to a site for inside info, while claiming the site has no inside info though.  At least he’s not doing that, because that would indicate a real lack of intelligence…

I'm not here for "inside" info. I'm here to discuss IU basketball, in this case, the next coach. Brad Stevens is not going to coach Indiana basketball regardless of what anybody hears.

Glad we cleared that up.

That's always stuck with me too, and seems consistent with the kind of guy Brad is supposed to be. But I've also heard others insist he'd only come back to college to coach at IU.

But that post has reduced my hopes for Brad.

I can tell you there has been significant donor talk of Beard and TJ.  I can also tell you from past experience that donor talk typically doesn’t mean a whole lot unless it’s from the very, very top donors.
You mean like the ones who saved woodson with the six million dollar check.

I know we have built McDermont up around here but I think we can all agree there’s a vast gulf of difference between him and Coach K?

Also does anyone know a better word than “vast?“ I’m in desperate need of it.

Now I am confused, one person calls them a low major, one person says a mid major and they call themselves a high point.

I shared the names I heard with a few posters on here via DM. not sharing here. sorry to be vague but tipped my hand a bit too much under my previous username with the archie info and my guy found out and wasn't thrilled. he's also a family member who gives me insane amount of access to IU athletics, not someone i'm trying to piss off.

Correct, i haven't heard anything since last thursday. almost a week and a lot can change in that timeframe. heard Stevens wants nothing to do with CBB, and loves life in the NBA, but money talks i guess. The sale of the celtics isn't a big deal to him, he wants to stay in boston but will have several NBA offers if he doesn't

Think i will withhold my info moving forward. understand the skepticism but i see why people with actual info choose not to overshare
