I think you’re reading too much into the Zeller thing, that’s just everyone having fun with a silly theory. I don’t think anyone thinks he’s actually a a stevens plant doing recon any more than Brad and Scott going on a buddy comedy trip to the breaking bad set lol

True or not, I love the stevens talk because it makes this thread lively on march 1st when it wouldn't really be otherwise. 

I do have to say byington has probably moved up my list a bunch. Vandy is a fun team to watch and has beaten multiple top 25 teams.

Ill preface this by saying I think the odds of Brad Stevens being our next coach are extremely low. 

But I think I'll trust a guy who got Butler to 2 national championship games, coached the Boston Celtics to the playoffs 7 out 8 years, and helped assemble a championship winning team as the President of Basketball Ops to assemble and coach a college basketball team with more NIL money than 99% of other schools.   If Brad Stevens says he wants to coach here, I think he can choose whoever the hell he wants to be on staff and be successful.

Maybe, I think there are plenty of people that do believe this. Maybe everyone is just having some fun and I’m missing the joke. 
If Zeller is on staff, I will be excited because it’s nostalgia and I loved him in an IU inform, much like many of the older generation was about Woodson.

neither Woodson nor Cody are qualified and aren’t on anyone’s else’s list except ours, nobody is pining for their services. 

I just thought we were getting past our infatuation of hiring an IU guy just because they were an IU guy,

I don’t think we have to worry about unqualified people being in roles beyond support staff, and that’s why my read on the Zeller thing is mostly as people shitposting. I have to believe Dolson knows this hire can’t be a swing unless literally everyone says no. And if that happens we are cooked anyways so if Zeller is on the staff so be it. 
But I agree 100% the has to be an IU guy thing is dead. The chance for that died when we let Dusty walk.

So what changed on Drew? I remember the last search people saying he was slimy or did something bad in the past. I dont know what it was but it seems he went from someone we would never tough to a very realy possibility.

Well no, the only guy associated with the NBA that IU is interested in is Stevens. So the "NBA guys don't pan out" complaint really doesn't belong

Moot, of course, if he’s not returning to coaching let alone IU, but Stevens returning to coach in college is maybe most like Pitino doing so? They’re much different guys but universally agreed to be excellent coaches, and with a strong track record of college success.

The other guys who’ve made the transition lately — mostly the Ewing/Howard/Mullins/Woodson alma mater types, I assume? — have, uh, not had that sort of reputation. Juwan was thought to be a rising coaching star and really lost his shine at M. Woody is a late career guy who was well-liked and undone by hubris, bad roster/lineup choices, being stuck in 2004, things Knicks fans might’ve warned about.

An inability to distinguish the difference is a sign you might have some blinders on.

I was confused on the conversation. Obviously guys like pitino and and calipari did.

It´s 12:15....if our top options don´t pan out...why not offer Rick Pitino a 5 year deal? I´m not going to type why, but if he can win at Iona and St. John´s...
