maharkn Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Cronin is objectively a top-20 coach in the sport. Not sure what expectations are here. The only other realistic candidates who seem to be in that vein are Beard. May is still not quite there but may be in the near future.I don't think he can recruit well enough to stay near the top of the Big ten. As of right now he has no signings for next year. Can he not recruit or is he not recruiting because he plans on being somewhere else next year Sent from my Pixel 6a using Tapatalk

Truly, those sw16s don't move the needle for me, at all. Not one single team he had at Cinci 1.made a run 2. Really had the capability of making a run I just can't take this (Cronin) seriously. You can have that opinion.

IU has pretty much always had good-to-great players, and NIL means that should be even more consistently true. If it’s some massive red flag for someone, especially across time, then maybe it’s a problem. I don’t really see that with Mick Cronin has out-recruited what you’d probably expect given his grumpiness. UCLA obviously has a storied history but it’s not an NIL hotbed. Juwan Moye 1
woodenshoemanHoosierfan Posted February 16 Posted February 16 As I have said before, I will believe he is our coach when the contract is signed. Until then, I ask you not to become so overly invested that it will actually happen and is true, then doesn't happen, you start attacking posters. To me that shows me more about the attacker that the OP. tkbbn and RaceToTheTop 2

RoadRage Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Just for grins and giggles I compared Cronin’s first 5 seasons at UCLA to Alford’s first 5. Alford 117-57 - 3 Sweet 16s - made tournament 4 out of 5 years Cronin 115-53 - 2 Sweet 16s - 1 Final 4 - made tournament 3 of 5 years (no tournament Covid) So, yes, Cronin had the final 4 run but is just marginally better than Alford in his first 5 seasons, and I know none of you want Alford. I just hope Cronin isn’t the choice, but the way he is being pushed right now, you never know? cybergates and CSP 1 1

Gameface01 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Since speaking of what we want consistently from a new coach. I remember watching Knights mid to late 90s teams and we all knowing it was less than accustomed to. Yet they were still between 10-17 in rankings. Hornsby Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Now wait just a minute… I was attacked for comments like this. I thought obvious storytelling was encouraged. You don't belive he was going to sign tomorrow but then it changed to march 2nd. Soon it will change to after the ncaa. Lol it's not even a good story. They call it a tall tale. Easily. May has a top 25 offense last 3 years. Recruited a McDs AA this year, got transfer haul, and has a protected seed with many new pieces. And he’s only 48. What am I missing? That he’s only coached at this level for one season. I’m a May fan but, if you’re Dolson, you have to recognize there’s still some risk there.
