Honestly I’m just an IU fan that came here to have conversations about guys that actually might be the next coach at Indiana
dusty may, mick Cronin, Ben McCollum, etc.
but all you get is Brad Stevens mumbo jumbo here..
the only thing legit is that national media is saying he should be the first call we make, well no ****
lets have a conversation about who should be the next coach

I get what you are saying here, but how is Dusty May any more believable or possible than Brad Stevens? He's only been in his current job for under a year. I would say that conventional thinking would make Dusty May more of a long shot than Brad Stevens...

Well for starters dusty May didn’t just get NBA executive of the year and help his team win the world championship nor did he turn the job down 4 years ago

That’s not surprising to learn lol. @Naturalhoosier, was it Reb that met us in Bloomington for the IU vs Navy game and we snuck into Assembly Hall where we technically weren’t supposed to be?

Reb brought the donuts to the tailgate.  @upperarlington was also part of that crew.  Dang that was a great time.  Full access to the court.  Just wish we had a basketball.

4 years is a long time. There are job opportunities I haven't taken but wished I had years later...things change over the course of a few years. However, with Dusty May, he hasn't even been there a year. I'm not buying that there is any greater chance that he comes over Brad Steven's situation...

My point was if all of this stuff is actually going on then the national media would know about all of this and report it.

They don’t always have connections or confirmation and they don’t want to burn bridges by betraying confidential information. Some people on here have legit connections and hear things. Even a nobody like me lucked out when the Romeo Langford thing was going on—my niece was a New Albany cheerleader and friends with Romeo and she told me he told her he had decided he was going to IU and I posted that info here days before there was any national media confirmation—because none of them were imbedded as a good looking teenager girl hanging out with him. That’s the strength of this message board.

You could be right. Dusty could be a long shot as well. If we get past those two, I start getting nervous. Not huge on Cronin. Just think he’s an @$$. McCollum is a risk because he’s never done it at this level.

I like May a lot more now than I did at this time last year. I have PTSD from hiring the up and comer because of Archie. Seeing what May did with Michigan from where they were last year impressed me. I think he would be a great hire.

I'm coming around on him, he's having a really good year. UM has improved greatly under him compared to last season so he's proving it after his jump to P4. On kenpom, has both the offense and defense in the top 25.

I would like to see his team take better care of the ball.

There is still some risk since he doesn't have a long track record of sustaining success at the B1G level but I think that is a risk worth taking.

Some think that he won't leave UM after a year but I think he would. His buyout for leaving is pretty low at $5M, soon going to $4M. That is something that he or his agent had to fight to get. That shows that he might be open to leaving for IU. However, some reports last year said that he didn't want the fishbowl of UL. If that was too much for him, would he want to go to IU which is just as bad?

The best part is, if you don’t hear about it, you won’t post 50 times that it’s completely made up.

If I post 50 times that it’s made up, the rest of you post 1,000,000 times that it’s real….

Him turning down the UL job is interesting. I’d like to know more about that. Most would say that is a better basketball job than Michigan. Always have found that one weird.
