Indiana has shown complete and utter incompetence at hiring basketball coaches, there's no reason to believe they'll get it right this time. It's kind of impressive how awful they've been at hiring, you'd almost have to try to be that bad.

The reason I’m optimistic this go around is purely based on NIL. This didn’t exist when Woodson was first hired.

 

Given we’re apparently top-5 for NIL, this is going to be a very desirable job. Doesn’t mean we get Stevens, but I think someone like Beard is the floor this go around and that’s so much better than Woodson.

If we're going that route, the only thing that's been verified is he's never been close to saying yes to the job.

One star player saying he isn’t coaching again doesn’t mean anything especially when there are other former players who say he will coach again. Doesn’t mean he will come to IU, but saying the rumors are false is flat out wrong.

No I'm not even considering Stevens is gonna be the coach. Which is why I just refuse to engage with the Stevens to IU talk.

Cronin is 9-4 in the B1G in his first year.   Last time an IU coach was 5 games over in conference was? I would guess Crean would have been the last coach to be 5 games over .500 at any point during a season

I kind of feel like if Stevens was a non-starter, the administration would be trying to tamp that speculation down ASAP, to avoid setting the eventual hire up for a disappointing reception. Especially after last time around.

Cronin is a good but unsexy choice.  There are quite a few guys I would prefer.
