I am not trying to start a war here but I would like to know what it would take for everyone who doesn’t want Beard to change their mind (I am also in this camp)?
Would a Ray Rice type of mea culpa do it or is he persona non grata no matter what?
Mods can delete this if they think it is inappropriate. It is just something I have been thinking through and I wanted to solicit the RESPECTFUL opinions of others.

Nope. Nothing will. Dude showed his true colors and as such he is toxic

I won't change my mind.

I know my wife would never watch IUBB if he were to take the reins…if we had a daughter I wouldn’t feel right cheering for him. I will always love and support IU, and he’s a proven winner..but in my eyes what he did is FAR worse than any recruiting violation, and that keeps us from hiring those coaches. I imagine this will be our last choice when we’ve exhausted all other(high level) options

Yes welcome, seems this board has grown a ton in the last few days.

look, I’m fine with Stevens if that is who we end up with but I think the obsession with Stevens by some is one, manifested by the fact that many have stated that he is Dolson’s top target and he might be in play and two, that human nature loves a good chase and he has been our chase for a while regardless of whether it still makes sense to or not.

Indiana continues to fight doing the obvious and that has led us down the wrong paths over and over again. You don’t always have to outthink the room. When Pitino, Calipari, Stevens etc wanted to come here ages ago we should have moved but we didn’t. When May, Pearl etc wanted to come here we should have jumped and we didn’t. When Beard and Few want to come here we should jump but we won’t.

Stevens hasn’t coached in college since recruits were in pre-school. As soon as his core left butler his winning tapered off and he bolted. He won early in the nba and then winnning tapered off and he bolted. He has used us as a bargaining chip now each time his contract is in doubt. Maybe he comes and is wildly successful but I have my doubts on both coming and being wildly successful, meanwhile watching coaches like Pearl, Few Beard compete for national championships elsewhere.

Lot of truth here, imo. Brad Stevens isn’t a grinder. I don’t think he loves being a coach. You don’t walk away in your mid-40s if you do. It’s just a job for him. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I don’t think it’s the personality we need. A guy like Chris Beard would crawl over glass from Mississippi to Bloomington to get the job. Brad Stevens has to be begged and pleaded with, and then he spurns us. If he really wanted the job he would’ve taken it the last time.

People *uck up! He was remorseful and apologized! Some people will never let it go. I did something I regret when I was 21 and live every day to prove that was a one-off *uck up! I'm 44 now and so far I've been proving it is possible! People can change!

If you want to see the next IU coach live, in action, trek up to Ft. Wayne tomorrow night to watch the PFW Mastodons v the Green Bay Fightin’ Gottliebs!

Give him the $92 million.

Nope!  Much like Jesus, some here apparently have never sinned and walk on water.  Of course, they conveniently forgot the forgiveness part.

I appreciate the comment but I was really just looking for the opinions of the people that are against hiring him. I am aware of the opinions of the people who are for hiring him.
