One thing I won't understand if it is McCollum...why did it get so quiet? Like why would Dolson have everyone around him be so quiet for so long to hire a mid major coach? Don't get me wrong, I don't think McCollum is a bad hire, but he's no home run hire that you keep under lock and key.

There are just so many aspects of this coaching hire that don't make sense to me yet, maybe JerryYeagley23 will be able to give some clarity once he "takes the lid off" as he said. Hope we hear something soon because this search is getting old at this point.
Yep really odd. A D2 guy and it had to be tight lipped.

I’m still holding out for Bruce Pearl. Auburn has lost 3 of 4 maybe Bruce has signed the contract and the pressure is getting to him.

I attended Auburn many moons ago and have a few connections down there still. Won't pretend to be an insider by any stretch but I know there was some concern coming down from their Final Four run in 2019 that a school like IU could lure him away. Those days are gone. He's a made man on the Plains and with Auburn switching to Nike this summer, he will likely have more recruiting pull than he has to this point. I dont see the SEC basketball machine slowing down any time soon, either.

I’ve been vocal about not wanting Brownell, as have most, but if he makes at least the Sweet16 this year, doesn’t that soften your stance on him a little or won’t change? Piggyback, if he makes an Elite 8 or Final 4, does that help?

Nope. He's a little over .500 in conference  and has made the tournament about 1/3 of the time.

So basically Osterman is saying no journalists know anything.  Fan and journalists will just have to wait to see what he does.

He better hurry.  Civil war is about to begin

He's still actively coaching a team

So is Medved and there are people that already know he is taking Minnesota? So many people have said this is one of the tightest searches theyve seen.

I don't buy that is because he is coaching a team personally

Would try to keep it tight lipped no matter who it is I’d assume. Hopefully Dolson can beat out Iowa for likely the best coaching prospect available this cycle. If he doesn’t and we get someone very uninspiring, lol

Wasn't it pretty well known that Holloway was talking to Seton Hall about their opening while in the middle of the St. Peter's run a couple years ago?

It happens all the time, at least through backchanneling.

This is probably a lazy take but outside of age, I’m getting strong Cignetti vibes from McCollum. Supremely confident in himself and his system, no BS, the standard is the standard, production over potential.

I know the tempo is a red flag…. But outside of that, I think his style is EXACTLY what Indiana fans want. Defensive-minded, constant motion offensively, relentless effort on both ends. I know it’s not as modern, but that’s the kind of team we can be proud of.

(Purdue sucks!… But so does Michigan & Ahia State!)

Tempo and never being a part of a power program. Cig had experience with Saban at Alabama and a few other places. I'm not against McCollum but I'm far from convinced he's the next great championship winning coach.

he's just a guy that does funny bits on twitter. i think him and btownmoose were behind shaloobies and probably the kangaroo that was loose in bloomington. if you don't know what either of those two things are, I'm probably (see: definitely) too online.

Ok I recognize that profile now.

Shaloobies may be the greatest thing the internet has produced.

Yeah exactly!! I am not convinced that it is been this tight lipped and the hire ends up being BM. It may not be Brad Stevens very possible, but you don't run this tight of a ship for a guy with one year of D1 experience. I still believe in Scott.

He seems loyal to his players. Maybe he told Dolson he doesn’t want distraction and wants to tell them first.
