Dolson will be questioned almost immediately on this hire….who wants to cough up massive nil donations for a guy who’s basically as good as the guy you fired?

BB has had two great seasons back to back. That will be the pitch. Not sayin it’s Brownell but I’m leaning that way

Yes, McCollum is a risk.

Brownell= mediocre and adequate.  We know his ceiling.

McCollum= possible boom or bust.  He ceiling is unknown, but many speculate it could be very high.

And we shouldn't be down to those choices...

Tyme (AH) knows his stuff. I don’t care for the guy but he knows. Bozich is confirming it. Dane Fife is endorsing it.

Holy crap.

If it happens that way I’ve freed up a bunch of spare time because I will treat basketball like I used to treat IU football.  Let the results speak for themselves. Show up mostly for games.  Fair weather fan myself.  ZERO, absolutely zero excitement in this hire.

The only “potential” hire I dislike more than McCollum. lol. We are cooked either way.   Guy can’t win his conference barely can make tournaments.  If at all.

We had mediocre covered with Mike. Lol

I am going to make my annual business donation to Purdue this year and send it to the dean of the business school.  Sorry not sorry.

When you start hearing rumblings from legit media you know it’s close.

Doesn’t mean it’s logical. If Dolson doesn’t gauge the pulse of the fans, that’s on him. I don’t know a single person who wants Brownell. Again, I’m not saying it should be put to a vote. But if it’s that bad, I have to believe Dolson knows that too. But I don’t think it’s Brownell so not worried about.

Yeah…

What if the current P5 guys are all happy enough where they are? McCollum might prefer to stay at Drake if he doesn’t get the Iowa job.
Those not coaching may have never been realistic options.

Leaves us with Brownell (if he’s interested) and then the next rung of mid-major guys.

I don't really buy this thought process. Especially for a mid major guy. IU will offer a lot more money and resources than your current school. Most people will not turn down that kind of opportunity in their professional career

I enjoy this thread but it’s cracking me up.
This morning we had Brad Steven in the bag (again) and now it’s Brownell??
He is a lot better than Woody but I agree with those that say he wouldn’t be on the radar if he wasn’t a native Hoosier (not a good reason to hire him)

On the other hand…..who the hell knows who is really on Dolsons radar? Can’t wait to find out.

So feelings not rationality?

They’re completely rational feelings based on the way the IU basketball program has been run for the past 25 years. People say “no way they hire Brad Brownell,” but a Brad Brownell hire would be completely on brand.

You do if you're okay with Woodson's results but don't like that Woodson thinks he doesn't answer to you and doesn't do many of the things required of the coach.

Guess you gotta start somewhere.

I’m not saying it’s logical from the fans perspective. But it’s very logical from IU’s perspective.

People are saying it’s because he changed his offense before last year. No idea if it’s true or not because I didn’t even know who he was before this

Saw a tweet from someone saying they’ll become a reverse reverse jacket fan if IU hires Brownell - IU football and Notre Dame basketball. ND sucks at basketball too, but it made me laugh.

Dolson is completely clueless if he doesn’t understand the harsh, immediate backlash a Brownell hire would bring. There’d be zero honeymoon period and the pitchforks would be out on day one.

It can't be Brownell because his record in conference at Clemson is just over .500, and Beard haters said that's unacceptable.

We will be told that he has grown as a coach and we should look at the last two years as proof.

And which "Beard haters" are saying this would be a good hire?
