Pretty good watch and at around the 40 minute mark he talks about the coaching search. To the posters who don't want McCollum you will like what Galen says about him. I don't know if he knows much but with him doing a lot of sports media at IU you would think he has some knowledge.

He has some good insight. He's more plugged in than he lets on, but it's not clear he has any direct line to the program. He's definitely got friends in the athletic department, but whether or not those are "sources" in the context of a coaching search is unlikely.

That said, he does drop some info from time to time, usually quite subtly. But today he tweeted out "smokescreen" (albeit, with emojis for what I assume is plausible deniability purposes) not long after Bozich's Brownell tweet. Which is a more brazen use of his platform to get out some sort of message.

I believe that he knows more than he lets on, but tries his best not to step on the toes of anyone in the athletic department.

I’ll do what I’ve done the last 8 years. Won’t make an effort to get tickets to games. Watch from home if they are good and when they are bad I will just check the scores and dream for the day they take basketball seriously again.

The last 4 Crean years and Archie years buried most of my interest. The comical Woody hire plus watching TJD renewed some interest. Honestly coach search season has gotten me through the last two.

If Brownell comes in and hits the ground running then great. If he is going to do a slow build like at Clemson I’ll be mostly out.

This program is probably already mostly dormant unless Dolson has an ace up his sleeve.

My wife IS English, so I use "quid" all the time. It's impossible to not have her vocabulary leach into mine after so many years.

Funny, it’s my favorite accent..I could listen th that all day!

For the people that still think it’s Stevens, he has to be hired soon, as in very soon right?  That’s why I don’t buy it, there would be leaks about him stepping down from his Boston job.  If the Celtics know, they’d already be looking for his replacement and people would be talking. Again I hope I’m wrong but the Stevens ship has sailed.

Agreed. I’m sure Dolson asked weeks ago. I think Bozich has it right and it’s Brownell.

As previously discussed, the reason why folks believe Stevens may still be in play despite hearing no leaks of the sort is because of the following:

1) his wife is his agent, so the circle of people who know any sort of move he might make is extremely small

2) his past career moves (from Butler to Celtics HC in 2013, and Celtics HC to President in 2021) occurred with zero leaks prior to official announcements, and came as complete shocks to everyone

I'm not saying I think it's Stevens, but IF it were to be him, it would logically follow that a move like this would only occur under total radio silence. That's always been his M.O.

Yes that's what the logic would say.  I said a few weeks ago if it got to the first week of March and we hadn't heard anything from the NBA insiders it definitely isn't Brad.  Of course, it's possible he let the owner know weeks ago and they are doing him a favor by keeping everything a secret until Woody is finished.  But that's probably a 1% chance.

A British pound, about 1.29 USD.

Yeah, we lose about $.29 on the dollar, but it was so cheap to visit down there. I couldn’t even believe it.

I think he is a good coach with a really fun offense. I wouldn't hate the hire, but the defensive metrics for SLU/ISU last year give me a little bit of hesitation. I think he'd definitely be a big upgrade. Young enough he could be here a while. I just haven't done much looking into his personality and just didn't hear as much about him last year not being in Indiana anymore, honestly. Pretty sure @Hovadipo mentioned some bizarre stuff going on with the ISU message boards last year that he may have been involved with?

That's my speculation/memory, not saying he did anything to be clear.

I'd definitely approve of the hire and be excited to follow the program.

Schertz called out some message board chatter in pressers last year. It’s probably still out there, but I don’t remember specifics. It was done in his own way. Dry, meant to be funny (it was), but definitely caught peoples’ attention. Two things with that:

1) The ISU board is a group of like 10 people who are dumber than a box of rocks that think they’re Butler when they’re far closer to Indiana Weslyan. It was hilarious that those idiots got called out.

2) He probably shouldn’t make a habit out of that, but I still would’ve taken a bullet for him last year. Would still consider.

I think the fanbase desire for Stevens puts a cloud over the program. One that will create a negative storm for whoever else gets hired. We saw a little bit of it yesterday when people thought it was McCollum.
It doesn't have to be Stevens....but it needs to be someone of that caliber to not be a disappointment. It just is what it is....everyone wants IU to be GREAT yesterday.

It’s bizarre. Stevens has zero ties to IU. So, he was an IU fan as a kid. When I was a kid, I was a Cowboys fan because they were good and on TV all the time. Haven’t been a Cowboys fan in decades.
