If it is McCollum it won't be announced Monday since his team is still playing

Statement Monday. Announce him after their season is over. Gotta get a jump on the portal. If it’s him, he can address with his team this weekend. Just my take. Not saying that’s what will happen.

Hopefully Goodmans history of tweeting "leaks" inaccurate coaching info helped eased everyone's minds. Persolly I am huge on McCullom. But certainly not a fan of 50% of the board loathing the idea.

its not 50% and imo that should not influence your opinion

Not a bad thing depending on what kind of results he produced while in his 5-6 years.   If he comes in and fails then time for IUBB to take a look in a mirror if a successful sitting power 5 coach comes in and gets the same mediocre results then I agree it’s a bad fit for both however if in those 5-6 years he came in and produced results similar to what he is doing now or produced better results then then if he decided to retire after those 5-6 years and left the place better then where it is at then I would be fine with him leaving.  IU is in no position to turn their nose up to a coach like him like some posters on here do

I don't think McDermott would "fail" at IU but I also don't see McDermott coaching 10-12 years here either. I think there's plenty of younger guys who could raise the floor at IU, all with significantly higher ceilings due to their age.

But most importantly, I just don't get making the move from McDermott's angle. Why leave Creighton, especially now of all the times? Would have made sense after his son graduated 10 years back.

Man IUFB insider poster got the peegesters all going last night the Rabjohns only could in his wildest of dreams .

- he said he’s not ready to completely discount Stevens but even people on IUs end think it’s crazy .
- says McCollum is definitely a candidate but far from a done deal and Iowa potentially opening os something he wouldn’t bet on McCollum being the next coach
- said Gun to his head there are a handful of Big 12 coaches he would bet IUs next coach comes from there .

- interesting
Good if true

Those are valid concerns. He is 43 and other notable young coaches praise his acumen.

I trust he will continue learning and growing. And will be able to win big here too. We'll see if he becomes the guy.

If he's the one who's hired and is successful, he could be IU's coach for 25 years. He could be the long term solution for IU.

I'm sorry.. did you just call Creighton to Indiana a lateral move? lol

I'm not reading past that. Have a nice day, or don't.

From McDermott's perspective? Absolutely, he's got it completely made at Creighton and consistently has them in the top 20-25. Why leave that to go try and do that Indiana?

I would sincerely encourage obsessive of this search to consider:

1. Both Thamel missives seem to indicate he’s talked directly to Scott Dolson

2. Goodman is an actual journalist so he’s not just blowing smoke, though when he editorializes it’s pretty transparent. As @Hoosierfanyuh mentioned, he’s careful in choosing his words. He surely has connections at IU, however, it seems like his info is coming from the coach/agent side of things

3. Other than mayyyybe some leaky donors or athletic dept. staffers, the IU side of things has been basically silent (though see #1 above).

4. Focus on actual, material happenings. May got an extension, for example. There have been some milquetoast denials, which the denier could easily “change his mind” about, or use as leverage for more money in his current job. Not much else has happened publicly.

5. Finally, no one is really out until the job is filled. I mean there are coaches who are contractually unlikely, of course, but failing that, we don’t necessarily know much

Can you fill me in on #1? Not up to date on that

a baby in a car seat is holding a stack of money

If money was his primary motivation he would have left Creighton years ago. He's already made several millions for himself and has a son who has more money than sin.
