I have a very high amount of doubt that Ware is even being considered by the staff. Would definitely be a good get.

And I'm on the Caleb Love train the more I think about it. Sure he's a wildcard... But so was Xavier Johnson and Woody has gotten a lot of good out of him and really helped him.

I'd be shocked if Ware doesn't end up at a Nike school.  But maybe ties have been cut.

As much as I hated how Love played at UNC I could see a situation where I would trust staff to assess coachability.

Here's a stretch 4/5 that just entered the portal:

Aly Khalifa, Charlotte.  6'11", 230 pounds.  From Egypt.  Started 64 of 65 games in his two years at Charlotte.  This past season averaged 11.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 28 1/2 minutes.  Shot 51/38/74 this past season and took a decent number of threes (made 48 of 126).  From his highlights, has to work on some fluidity but there is a ton of potential.  Looks like he can play with his back to the basket as well as extend his game to the three point line.  Nearly a two-to-one assist to turnover ratio which doesn't happen for big men.

Yes! Hits 74% of his free throws!  And he is rocking a headband, too!  What's not to like?

I saw him play in person up close against FAU. Khalifa had 10 pts and 10 reb in 31 minutes that day.

No thank you. The guy just sat on the perimeter doing very little on offense. He sat there calling for the ball from 23 feet and shot a bunch of kinda open threes. He plays with zero quick twitch - I mean zero.

No thank you.

Sure...I guess. He also was 4-16 from the floor (2-7 from three) that day.

My eye test was that the guy stood around on offense most of the time. Maybe that's what Charlotte wanted from him, but it's probably because he isn't in that great shape and his motor isn't that great.

Now this dude intrigues me, primarily as a project player.  I kind of like the idea of reserving a roster spot for a project - that's how I saw Duncomb in his two seasons here.

In this case we're talking about a player who's starting outwith some bonafides (proven college skill and experience).  Obviously it would depend on the staff's interest and role in/for him and his interest and expectations.  Still, quite interesting IMO.

Also, he could be the foreign contributor I've been asking for for so long.

Seems to be a durr type player to me.

Burnett from Bama is in the portal.   Interesting career so far.   Had an IU offer back in the Archie days.   Picked Texas Tech over a ton of schools.    People on here wanted him bad.    Went to Bama and never could get it rolling.    Ranked around the 30’s.    Hopefully 3rd time is the charm with him.    The new norm.  Even highly ranked kids will enter and exit the portal.    At first I was skeptical if it would change the way coaches would recruit moving forward but now I see clearly why coaches are willing to take a chance on kids with experience and just as talented in the portal then high school kids.     I feel for the high school seniors trying to find a team nowadays.    Hopefully after the covid year it helps out

No.

He looks and plays like a 40 year old.

Why spend April-July bouncing between AAU events and holding your breath that a verbal commit from a HS junior will hold up until signing day when you can recruit the portal for 8-10 weeks and call it a day?

Best players come from HS.  JHS was never going to be in the portal.
