Or you can be terrible at your job and fail up like a lot of people in this country do on a daily basis. Have people I know that have worked on this staff, attending practices myself, I know for a fact he has worked his @$$ off. Results just have been terrible. I know very few people who work hard and are not successful. I suppose working hard, doing the same thing, and expecting different results -- well that's insanity, right. Quote

Or just, coaches? I suppose it depends on your definition of success. But looking specifically at college basketball coaches, I'd guess that the overwhelming majority of them are seen as extremely hard workers. But a very significant percentage are not successful. Hillsdale87 Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Sincere question, do we think any individual, or even group of players would have mattered? IU has had some talent the last few years. Certainly flawed/unbalanced rosters, but would Henry or Garcia or fill-in-the-blank have made Archie a success? I doubt it. More wins, no doubt, but IU doesn't just seem to be a player or two away from being there. It seems like a mess and Archie appears to be at a loss on how to correct it. Yes, I think having Aaron Henry in the starting lineup over Durham would have made a massive difference this year. Archie has his issues as a coach, but the biggest issue is that there are 2 starting guards who likely wouldn't start at any other school. Replace Rob and Al with McKinley Wright and Henry, and things look a lot different. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk MemphisHoosier, BGleas, Alford Bailey and 2 others 5 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 No doubt in my mind guard play is costing Archie his job. Had he been able to recruit over Al and Rob we probably arent having this discussion. MemphisHoosier, HoosierTrav, Emberton and 3 others 6 Quote

If you only define success via wins and losses, then yes by defitition only a small majority will be considered successful (someone has to win and someone has to loose). And maybe they are working hard putting the time in, a la Archie, but not working smart? Quote

lillurk Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Just overwhelmingly embarrassing to read the quotes from CAM’s radio show tonight. Sounds like he’s trying, calmly, to make a case for another year, but in reality he’s undermining his capability? Buck stops with you, man. Quote

Serious question, as I am appalled at the statements made at that introductory press conference compared to what I've watched all year. Those 3 guys you listed certainly would help shoulder the load, especially with Franklin going down, but I'm not convinced those guys would be allowed any more freedom if Archie is indeed dictating the pace. It just leaves me so lost, as I can't understand why there's no attempt to run with how much we struggle to shoot the ball. woodenshoemanHoosierfan 1 Quote

Fran’s the only coach of the top ten teams in the conference who’s been on the job longer than Miller. -Franklin has been hobbled, yep. Good development there. Why are we so thin? -less room for error? Why’s that? Who’s responsible? In general I’m open to explanations of why things didn’t work out (not just about IU basketball, but in general). You serious? This is brought up every year during the Final Four. And there’s at least fans to provide some depth perception for that. Let’s try to be fair here. Hillsdale87 and Chris007 2 Quote
