mdn82 Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Everyone seems worried that McRobbie will be hiring the new AD. For what it's worth, I believe it was McRobbie who hired Glass. What he was hired for he did. Athletic success has never been a main priority for McRobbie. Glass is a lawyer first and foremost with the ability to gain donors more than any AD. Most of the actions done by Glass have been with an eye towards marketing. Glass has always done what he was asked to do. I want an AD that will be given the opportunity to win in a landscape that is different than it was years ago. I want a modern AD. I am not sure I trust that will happen, but we will see. Jurich didn't get a national championship in basketball. I mean, I guess he did, but it vanished Are you talking about the Duke Final Four game -- when we were not only playing the Devils, but the refs? ... If so, maybe you're thinking of Jamal Meeks? After Leary made all those 3s, we still had a chance to tie, but Meeks fired our final salvo -- and missed. Josh and Chris007 2 Quote

cthomas Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Just an uniformed opinion here, but if the problem lies with the BOT and it remains the same and it hired McRobbie and he hired Glass, what makes anyone think something different is likely? It seems a philosophy about priorities is in place and I would expect more of the same. mdn82, Alford Bailey and Class of '66 Old Fart 3 Quote

Also isn't Scott Dolson in the current Athletic Department? The Marian AD i would get behind. I know people hate him. But I'm telling you Tom Jurich is a fantastic guy. Its a shame his football and Basketball coaches were scumbags, because good god he knows how to win. They produced a Heisman Trophy winner, National Championship in BB. Ex IU player, and was on staff for several years, served as Associate and Senior Athletic Director. Now the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics (AD) at Bradley, but had stops at Northwestern and Notre Dame and Michigan State. Have met Chris several times, and my mom worked close with him while he was at Indiana. Just an outstanding person. Chris007, mamasa, Stuhoo and 1 other 4 Quote

You hire people who share your values and beliefs, therefore I find it impossible to believe Jurich is a fantastic guy. Pretty good AD though. mamasa, lillurk and cthomas 3 Quote

Yeah but always better to hire a good person for the interim where everybody knows the situation. Somebody to push the papers well. Versus hiring the wrong person on a long term deal. Quote

Maybe we have a new AD and New President within an 18 month period. Quote
LIHoosier Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 It's pretty much common knowledge that President Dundee is retiring soon after the bicentennial campaign. I'd feel more at ease if we find out a committee is finding our new AD with say Trustee Quinn running the point.Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk MikeRoberts 1 Quote
WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Ill be honest, I don’t know how I feel about this shocking news. I didn’t mind Glass. I felt like, with the “restrictions” we feel are in place that he did a good job. I’ve always said I wanted IUBB in a level playing field but I’m not sure that happens no matter who the AD is. To me this is crazy news and super unexpected. Health or fishy. I hope he is well. I believe he loved Indiana and it’s sports programs and think in general he was a good spokesman. I would love if the next AD is hyper competitive and is allowed to function in the construct of the NCAA. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners thebigweave and cthomas 2 Quote
