WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Chris Clarke will be a grad transfer from VaTech. He was suspended this year. Marijuana suspension I believe. He’s a good player. Probably not worth the risk but he’s borderline starter material for us. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
MikeRoberts Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 My goodness after reading all of the posts from last night, it must have been a wet Wednesday with some mid-week drinking. Jake was a reach, to begin with, and if he couldn't get any time on the floor during a losing streak then it was best that he moves on. Race was in concussion protocol for over a month and came back to pass him on the depth chart immediately. You need 3 maybe 4 good big men to compete in the Big Ten. We have Davis, Brunk :-), TJD and Thompson. Everyone calm down. Meetings will be over by the end of the day so this might be the last one besides Romeo. I could be mistaken but I thought you had said that Archie and the staff when recruiting Forrester thought he would be all-bigten in his career at IU? Am I thinking of someone else?Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
Ryno6284 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Green won't transfer and sit out a year! Smith will never be the player that some on here thinks he can be. He doesn't have the mindset. He is afraid to attack the rim! American HoosierX and HoosierAloha 2 Quote
Ryno6284 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I just hope all of this is what Archie really thinks needs to happen! The last two years here, he just hasn't looked like the same coach I watched while at Dayton! BGleas, American HoosierX and RealIU 3 Quote

Basically knows the IU culture. 3.9 GPA from Butler. Ole Miss seems to be the only other school recruiting him. I'd be shocked if he isn't a Hoosier. RaceToTheTop Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Clarke looks like he’s a 6’6” wing whose game is more inside the arc. Not sure he’s a fit. Decent rebounder for his size though, JaybobHoosier 1 Quote

They were sick and tired of losing. Don't forget Watford, he was a cornerstone on those teams and got to be one of the best shooters in the nation before he graduated. The Peegs Hoosier Hysteria podcast had a really, really good interview with Watford earlier this week btw, for anyone else that bought a #2 jersey during the Watford era like I did lol JaybobHoosier and Ranger78 2 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Best case scenario is Brunk, Watford and Quinones IMO3 possible starters. That’s the kind of drastic change I could get behind. We won’t get these guys. Just won’t happen. Not enough PT to sell imo. Watford and TJD would get starter minutes. And Christian is my favorite player of the last 20 years so I'd love to see his brother go here. Quote

I'm really not that concerned about shooting. I don't think we'll be elite but we'll be way better than we were this year. Romeo and Morgan both shot under 30% from three but combined for over 200 attempts from three. Those shots will mostly go to Green, Phinisee, and Durham next season which will help a ton along with any marginal improvement we might see from them. Our roster would look really nice if we could get Brunk and Watford alone, Quinones on top would be amazing. But now we're counting a lot of eggs as chickens... jonz44 1 Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Really hoping for Brunk. With Davis and him having similar skill sets you could basically get Davis for 40 minutes and not worry about foul problems. meagetron 1 Quote

If all of our returning players shoot the exact same percentage that they did this year but the ~200 shots Romeo and Morgan too are split between Green, Phinisee, and Durham our team shooting percentage will rise a lot. That's what I'm saying. Even if our returnees don't get that much better we won't have as many poor shooters taking a high volume of threes which should make a big impact on its own. The right players need to be taking the 3s next year. Virginia has only two guys shooting 40 percent but because their top 3 shooters took 71% of their attempts probably 85% non garbage time the team shot a high percentage Green should take over 30 percent of our 3s and if Phinisee can match his pre concussion numbers he shouldn’t be too far behind BGVille Hoosierfan, jonz44, IUsafety and 1 other 4 Quote
