I knew it had been a while, but did't realize it had been THAT much of a while: That was our first double-digit win since Dec. 22 (Jacksonville.). Our biggest B1G win had been the first Illinois game (eight points -- Jan. 3). I think it was the same effort we have had 3 straight games. Just a much weaker opponent. southsidehoosier and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

Popular Post Str8Hoosiers Posted March 8, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2019 Great overall game and so glad to have the confidence back... not only the team but the fans (myself included) as well... Hoping this is gonna be a fun ride the rest of the year. I love it when Green plays like he did, crisp passes and as others mentioned he makes plays others don't even see... sometimes he gets flashy (the dump off to Smith on the fast break dunk), sometimes he dose too much, but when he is on it is fun to watch. Smith had his 2nd really good game in a row, very patient and poised. Took what was given to him and didn't force anything. Phin was absolutely the MAN in this game.. he went where he wanted and did what he wanted, he was unstoppable plus as usualy played great defense. Romeo... IDK.... stood in the corner on the right side of the court for a majority of the game... I thought he mentioned he had learned from his mistakes by taking the ball to the hoop at the end of 2OT against Wisc but then when he has the ball in his hands at the end of the half, he dribbles up top for 15 seconds then chucks a TERRIBLE shot... He did play good defense and when he drove under control it was nice... still needs to get better dribbling the ball, it is a scary sight to behold when he has the ball and is under pressure... LOVED LOVED LOVED the De'Ron technical... they were manhandling him all game and he made it known he wasn't going to take it... I thought it was a quick whistle but I don't know what he specifically said... but it obviously got the officials attention, they warned ILL big guy not to say another word shortly after and the fouls evened out! Need that fire and he is a BEAST... we are better with him in the game. ALASKA HOOSIER, southsidehoosier, Hoosier DaDa and 10 others 13 Quote

Popular Post cthomas Posted March 8, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2019 If D. Davis returns next year, he could be the one who raises the collective toughness of this team through his play. What a mentor he could be for TJD, teaching the young guy what it takes to play at this level. I openly admit I have not given De'Ron enough credit for what he brings to this team when healthy. Last night he made it clear what would and would not be tolerated in the paint. We will only get better as more and more guys take on his personality. I also believe CAM is cut from the same cloth. taco corp, cchuntsman, HoosierAlex and 12 others 15 Quote
Popular Post southsidehoosier Posted March 8, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2019 I loved that Archie kept DD in after the technical and instead used it as a teaching moment. I don't see any reason why DD doesn't come back next year. He seems to be on the mend from his injuries and his minutes and offensive usage continue to increase. It's been almost 20 years since a B1G team has won a national title and watching how things are officiated in the conference I can see why. You don't see the things that were allowed last night in the NCAAT. The physical/grind it out style doesn't play well in the NCAAT. Give Archie a lot of credit for taking away all of Illinois strengths (turning other teams over and getting to the FT line). Str8Hoosiers, pappy1865, ALASKA HOOSIER and 7 others 10 Quote

As I touched on earlier because of coaches like Painter, Izzo, Gard. They go to Delaney and complain, their on committees of the conference on how the game should be officiated. They decide that stuff. Painter doesn't care about an NCAA Championship, he cares about winning a Big Ten title. Just what I have read and been told when I asked the same questions. When the game is called correctly like in the NCAA tourney, Big Ten teams are usually in foul trouble. We are one of the few conferences who play tackle basketball. Who would be the beneficiaries of tackle basketball? MSU, Wiscy, pu, Penn State, and Ill come to mind. Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Maryland typically would play a different style Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Chris007 and ebridges24 2 Quote
cleeter Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 Where are you guys sitting? I will be down on the baseline by the IU bench. Fun day man. I always enjoy Senior Day. I am excited for Juwan. Few have went through this much crap in a four year career.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appWe will be in section M of the lower level. It’s not either of our first game, but is both our first senior nights. Should be a great time. Hopefully it’s rocking since it’s essentially a March madness play in game. And I'm sure the reason some kids don't want to play in the league. MoyeNeeded and Alford Bailey 2 Quote
Alford Bailey Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Watched a replay of the highlights last night. Our guys were getting hammered. So many baskets that should have been and 1's. Just ridiculous. Whoozhers 1 Quote

jk34 Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Although we gave up more points than Achie would like, I love watching this team starting to understand this system. It's a thing of beauty. We tend to get beat on the hockey assist when teams are moving the ball. Points in the paint are becoming hard to come by for the opposition though. This is Rob's team, and I believe Archie told him so. Clear out for your freshman pg(100th ranked). Still thought Romeo had a good game. RatpigHoosier 1 Quote
DLG3 Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Anyone read The Athletic? Really cool article there giving some behind-the-scenes insight of Archie. Went through the whole game and focused on his reactions/coaching. I think you can read it for free with the app. Your first 7 days are free, I believe.
