I haven't gone back through every page and it may have already been brought up; but I thought he was very good tonight minus the foul trouble. 12 points on 5-9 from the floor, 6 rebounds, and 2-2 from the line. Only 1 turnover. Also loved seeing Phinisee back to his old self. 11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 0 turnovers. I like the trend of this team. Might be a slow grind; but I do like some of what I see. Not to berate the kid after having a good stat night but I still saw a lot that I didn't like. Happ blocked him out once in the 2nd half and literally moved him 3 feet off of his spot. Lazy passes; one late in the game should've been a steal but we got it back. No bulldog mentality although I did see him actually hustle two times; once on the fast break dunk with Rob and the other trying to deny Reuvers an inbound pass and chased him the length of the court when Wisky had to throw it long to get it in. I just don't disagree with him the way some do; and I didn't find him insufferable at all. The way he sees things may not be what many want to hear and his style isn't as smooth as it could be; but I appreciate the way he does games and he knows his stuff. He's not supposed to be John Laskowski. If most are sick....why? I happen to know him, and I know he loves IU maybe more than anyone here. He also knows WAY more than anyone here. He's not one to sugar coat anything; and I don't want him to. He's been right about effort. Right about who needs the ball and that same kid not wanting to get on the floor or standing in a corner. It's not what IU fans genuinely want to hear; but I don't have the problem with the guy many do. Probably no surprise to a lot of people who will roll their eyes at my comments. But....I said two years ago Green was awful. This season, some said we "need" him. I disagreed then, and there was an exchange. I don't see that opinion anymore. He was actively rooting for Wisconsin last night.. I don't know what leads you to believe that "he loves IU more than maybe anyone" after last night's broadcast.. Other guys call games at their old schools and they act much different than Dakich does when he calls IU games. VO5, Chris007, ElectricBoogaloo and 6 others 9 Quote
Honkyman Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 I agree with Old Friend. Dakich calls him as he sees them. He understands the game and makes timely observations. Sometimes those observations are critical of IU play (much deserved for most of the season) and sometimes they are praising IU play. The idea that he was rooting for Wisconsin is absurd. IU won last night. Why are people focusing on Dakich? Give it a rest and enjoy the victory. Ryno6284 1 Quote

We all heard him last night, unfortunately. You say he understands the game. Did you happen to catch him when he was arguing that an elbow to the face isn't a flagrant foul? Or when he went on and on about "the hall of calls" or demanding flagrant fouls for jersey tugs? He's a hack. BTOWN, VO5, TXHoosierDaddy and 12 others 14 1 Quote
Josh Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Great win! I always enjoy beating Wisconsin. Different result on the court, same old broken record from some on here on bashing the kids though. That's disappointing. As for Dakich, I'm a fan. I like it when he does our games and I usually defend him. Last night he was awful. He deserves the criticism he gets today. Brass Cannon Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Dakich is a troll. And sounded like a Wisconsin homer last night. Dude should be kicked out of the state. 323SGrant, BGleas, Deserthoozier and 3 others 6 Quote

Mostly because not one word of what I said had anything to do with his broadcast last night. He's not broadcasting to Indiana fans. Yeah, he placated the people who believe people get homered in Assembly Hall; but you know what? The rest of the Big Ten believes teams get homered in Assembly Hall and have for decades. He made that point. And it's true. So what if others act differently? Quote
RatpigHoosier Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 He also had two near turnovers with inexplicably bad passes, one with a minute to go in regulation to Davis when Davis wasn’t open. Luckily it was tapped away and not stolen and we recovered but it should have been stolen. Stats wise he played well, overall he was maybe “ok”. I’m still in the weed him out camp.Rumor is he “weeded” himself out of a few games this year. Don’t bash me for perpetuating idle rumors....it’s a joke!Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
JSHoosier Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 I'm to the point I think people are just hearing what they want to with Dakich. I usually don't mind him, he's praised the team when warranted and criticized when deserved (which has been a lot); he called Green's foul in 2 OT stupid because it was mind numbingly stupid. He went too far last night at times but usually I don't think he's as bad as some make him out to be. 8bucks, HoosierDYT, Feathery and 1 other 3 1 Quote

If there's anyone who should have bias against IU it's a former Purdue player, but if he has any he doesn't show it because he knows how to be a professional. I also have only read legitimate game based evidence criticism of players in this thread. Green insensibly went for a flashy game winning block and fouled Trice allowing him to tie the game at the line. Smith made a lot of lazy or thoughtless mishaps as well. Even CAM is taking legitimate flak in this thread. However, there is plenty of praise and celebration of the good decisions and play by all. I think this is pretty balanced conversation, so no need for you to focus purely on the negative. theriverpilot 1 Quote

Bailey7878 Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Only thing IU can do is go forward. Those close losses can’t be changed. Let’s say the crazy thing happens. IU wins out and goes 17-14. After that, two wins in the B1G tournament. Does 19-15 get them in the dance? It could just for the fact it’s IUThere is no margin for error. Like you said it will likely take 5 wins in a row.Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk Quote

The scouting report I read a few years ago about his post defense being his strength coming out of high school was spot on. He really bothered Happ last night and rebounded well. Just hope he can stay healthy so he can get some rhythm on offense. ALASKA HOOSIER and Josh 2 Quote
