MikeRoberts Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 You know his personality. It wasn't a retraction because he wasn't serious the first time. Take everything into account, and look up the story. Not saying he did or didn't receive benefits, but does anyone really think Shaquille O'Neal (you have to know how smart he is) would publicly just say "I was paid well at LSU?" Seriously....think about that.It is strange that he knew there was a statute of limitations on that sort of thing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

He went on an unofficial to UNC right before his OV to IU. Committed shortly after an in home visit and not after the OV. Most thought up until around the OV he was going to UNC due to the Boo Williams connection with Roy Williams. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app My recollection was that he was down to UNC and UK and then both backed off, and that's when IU became the destination. 8bucks Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Noah and Thomas Bryant's commitments both would raise red flags for me. Both could have chosen us or they could have been steered our way by adidas. Even so, not too worried because Crean is gone. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote

Kid wasn't really "ready" for the NBA but it's working out OK for him. I wish he would have viewed his stay at IU differently and been more in the moment. Even still he was one of our best players as a Freshman, and I don't have hate for him at all, it's just an ugly process with these top 10 guys. Especially the ones that project more than they actually show and Vonleh fit into that category. In the end, he likely made the best choice for him and probably could have been a true "straight to NBA" in the older days. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners That is a great statement. We should all remember that we are talking about kids, not mature adults. I know that I'm a vastly different person now than when I was at18. It's easy for us as adults to say what these kids should or should not be doing, but they don't have the advantage of an adult brain. WayneFleekHoosier, Josh and thebigweave 3 Quote

Yep this is what happened. He was actually top-10 at one point according to Rivals with offers from most of the big boys, but his play kind of fell off and he dropped in the rankings. We were really the only bigger school to not back off. I even remember reading the articles written after his commitment saying he chose us over offers from UNC and UK when in fact, that wasn't really true. More like a half truth. mdn82 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Kevin Keats from UL did an in home and then three days prior to him committing to IU came in to see him, same day as Tom Crean, and two weeks after he did an unofficial to UNC. He was the composite 53rd ranked player. Not exactly dropping like a rock like you guys remember. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Quote
