Jerome Hunter projected as a good fit in Mike Woodson’s system. The new IU head coach talked about why that didn’t work out and what he thinks about his arsenal of 3-point shooters who remain.

Pretty much confirms it wasn't about Hunter's ability as a shooter or otherwise. That seemed pretty clear early on.

Hunter can play, CAM was an awful coach for him

He can play a little but we kept waiting from him to breakthrough.  I think the issues weren't so much with his play and more with him not buying in -- not just with Miller, but once Woodson took over as well.

Right after Jerome Hunter departed:

"It's kind of hard when you can't actually sit down in a room and just talk with young men like my players,'' Woodson said on Wednesday. "My players that are here, I make it a point when they come in to work, they have to stop by my office and see me first, so we can chat and see how their day is going and what's going on in their lives. That's important to me. It helps me from a bonding standpoint even before we hit the floor running.

We just didn't mix the way I think I wanted it to be between he and I, and that's no knock against him, because I think he's an excellent kid. We decided to part ways. He understood, and I understood.''

Either JH or Archie tried making him a 3 point specialist. He was a 3 level scorer before his injury and that is the JH we needed. For whatever reason it never transpired. Wishing him luck and health.

Side note, Lander’s message is loud and clear.

Wishing him luck and health too.

Cam did everything he could to limit the 3 ball game, we shot it by numbers at the bottom of the B1G because of it, if we’re going to go about quoting people (above) then TJD’s quote early about how much more they now enjoy the game again under Woodson also is loud and clear….

yeah look at what Lander is saying about the clip himself. “all my boy needed was to be let loose.” Yes, I Think Lander knows what he’s talking about.

Hunter went through a serious health condition, and lost a full year not just playing, practicing too, and whether he ever would play again at the level he was the summer before his injury was (maybe still is) a real question, but cam clearly held him back, he was starting to show but couldn’t under that crap that passed for cam’s offense. I’d bet on him raising his game this year, and if he does, good for him

definitely wishing him health and good fortune!

Yep, I almost put this in Lander’s thread actually lol, but it was a great dunk.

He's going to help Xavier...no doubt.

Per ESPN:

Gasaway: Xavier made less than 29% of its 3s in Big East play last season and still played its way into Bubble Watch membership. With merely average perimeter shooting in 2022, these guys could look much improved in a hurry. Travis Steele returns his top seven scorers, Paul Scruggs is an excellent scoring point guard and Zach Freemantle is one of the best big men in the Big East when he's healthy. Steele also added two Big Ten transfers in Jack Nunge (Iowa) and Jerome Hunter (Indiana). The Musketeers will be deeper and quite possibly better than what we saw last season.

I always see a lot of Xavier since I live in Cincinnati.  Initially I questioned Steelers hiring, but not anymore.  He's solid, IMO.  Xavier is somewhat like Butler.

Lander's message is clear.

That said, I'm not sure Lander himself is going to see all that much time this season.
