Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Mmm incredibly unproven. He's done very impressive work at an irrelevant school in an irrelevant conference. I'm not wow'd, but certainly happier with him than a proven underachiever (sup, Alford! How about that loss to UK?) Quote
Adillac Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Have to say, UCLA looked totally done and disinterested with 8min to play last night. Quote

It was a good win. They were 1-1. (But yeah, Alford is why they lost last night). Have a good day, sir. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Quote
tyappleg Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 While Archie wouldn't be my first choice... I would be okay with it. He has potential to be to be a great hire... but if they had the option of Bennett or Archie... Bennett should be the choice considering how critical this hire is. Popular Post doyle1984 Posted March 25, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 25, 2017 All these flights from Bloomington to OKC, Charlottesville, Dayton. How great would it be if this was Indiana and the search firm doing this to throw everyone off course as they take a flight out of Indianapolis to Boston to reach an agreement with Stevens...I know it's not happening but I have heard every other conspiracy theory figured I would create my ownSent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app bmemmer, CR3AMnCR1MS0N, Hoosier_roots and 8 others 11 Quote

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Archie is better than Crean, we can disagree as to what degree. But Archie, at 38, is a student of the game. In 12 years he'll be exponentially better than Crean. The only question is how quickly he navigates that learning curve. Kepner, CR3AMnCR1MS0N, Hoosierfan2017 and 2 others 5 Quote

Tom White Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Not a sexy hire. If we hire him, I think that's a bad sign of what everyone thinks of our program.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile appBut which do you want? Sexy or Successful? IndianaSconnie90 Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 For those suggesting a mid-major coach, there's really only 1 question glass needs to consider. Is he willing to allow the basketball program to be the guinea pig for a coach from a mid-major college? Because that's what it would be, nobody knows what a coach from somewhere like a Dayton is going to do with a program who plays big boy teams every year RedsIUfan 1 Quote

Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 25, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 25, 2017 Tony Bennett over Archie all day every day for me. The only hires in itself that make us elite in stature, are Stevens,Donovan, and maybe Sean Miller. Everyone else will need to prove themselves. I think Tony Bennett has the best chance of that. My biggest worry with him is our recruiting won't be on the level to compete with Duke, Kansas, UK. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners Jam, CR3AMnCR1MS0N, HooHooHoo22 and 6 others 9 Quote
Maynard Posted March 25, 2017 Posted March 25, 2017 Surprised Alford is not on the bottom of the list. He benefited from his SOS, and his win% is solid. I agree. I think he and Sean Miller are mostly a product of the talent they have brought in, but I guess that's part of coaching too. I'd prefer a lesser recruiter who overachieves to a great recruiter who underacheives. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BtownBanners mobile app Walking Boot of Doom 1 Quote

Alford keeps proving his mediocrity for me, and Archie looks a heckuva lot better than either of them. Also, supported Crean, no doubt. Always hated his defenses and the turnovers, but did think he deserved all the time he received. This year the relationship clearly ran it's course, and moving on to the next thing (regardless of whether the best guy was available or not) was the right decision.
