Sounds like a big deal regardless of impact.

The bigger question...are we going to fill it? (With Priller, Gelon, McSwain) we need all the legit B1G bodies we can get.

Help me out then.  I guess all I know was that Wade was an unheralded 3 star.  What was the true history then?

While the Marquette team wasn't a world beater by any means, it did have 3 NBA players in Wade, Diener, and Novak.

One of those three is far, far less valuable while being much more of a future investment than the others.

I would say to dig a little deeper. Yes, you can make the elite-8/final four comparison to Crean, but there's not a lot of context or substance behind that. 

Look at how he carries himself. Listen to what he says, the way he talks about basketball, his philosophy, etc. The way he talks about and to players. How he talks about X's/O"s.

Look at where he comes from. He's from a basketball family, his dad is a legendary coach in PA, his brother was a successful player and now coach. Archie himself was a successful player and now coach. He grew up in the gym, he's spent almost all of his life in the gym playing and around coaches. 

I have no idea what the future holds or how he'll ultimately do, but given how he played, how he's coached to this point, what he says and how he relates to basketball people and his philosophies, etc., I understand being cautiously optimistic, but I don't see many reasons to be as skeptical as you are, and I really don't see a comparison to Crean. 

Again, I don't what's going to happen. Is he our Bill Self, or is he just going to maintain Crean's highs but minimize the Crean dips? I don't know, but I can say that to this point I'm really encouraged.

Another board has also dropped news of a non-impact player possibly leaving.  If he does leave, I hope we bank the scholarship.

Something we never would have done in the past 8 years.

If it's Gelon we still have 5 schollies next year. Grab a useful transfer if one still exists. If it's Priller, still would take a Grad transfer.

Can bank it or perhaps see if there's a capable grad transfer -- that's only for a year anyway. It's not likely at this point, but we could end up with another Max Bielfeldt.

Jerod Morris said on Assembly Call recording just now that he is hearing Rojo is coming back for sure (said it was 60-40 last week) and Johnson just tweeted the contradiction of what his dad said basically so he can announce it on his own terms soon. This is kind of what i figured.

McSwain better not be the one that's leaving.. He isn't very skilled basketball wise, but he's strong and athletic. Let him rough some dudes up in the paint and tell him to only shoot on lobs or put backs.

Not saying I believe faceless message board posters but the post clearly said 'non impact' and McSwain does not met that criteria. Non impact would be Priller, Gelon or one of the walk on's I assume. McSwain clearly makes an impact.

I would argue that Priller could easily be impact.  Or at least a guy getting PT if we have injury.  I think we are 3 or 4 injuries away from Gelon getting PT

Priller is not an impact player in my definition of IU basketball no matter what but we can definitely agree to disagree there which is fine
