I would place the possibility of jay wright leaving Villanova for a college job as less than zero. I don't have any sources but just going by the folks up here near philly say and perceive him.... would not be surprised to see him try the NBA one day.

Many schools can outbid them. A lot of top flight jobs will open up in a few years.

I think he will go to the NBA before he leaves Villanova. Tough to pull someone operating in a dream job type scenario in an area of the country where their ties are.... if Nova was constantly knocking on the door and didn't just win a title...

Dwayne Wade. Thats his resource.

Crean RECRUITED Wade. Wade was NOT a resource of Marquette until Crean brought him in. If Marshall hasn't had such a resource, that's on him as a poor recruiter...

Well obviously he has because he's had consistent success for over a decade. Consistency is not something we saw or would ever see with Crean.

Then he must be a PHENOMINAL coach to have all this success as a piss poor recruiter. Imagine what he could do with IU's resources?

Most teams didn't recruit Wade because of academic issues. He had to sit out his entire freshman year. His only three offers were from Marquette, Illinois State and DePaul. If those issues aren't there I don't think Crean gets him. Credit to Crean for taking a chance on a kid, but I'm not going to discredit Marshall because he hasn't landed a player of that caliber.

LSU, via a third party, has contacted Tom Crean to gauge his possible interest in coaching the Tigers, a source told CBS Sports.

Interesting.  I saw this earlier today

VCU head coach Will Wade has had discussions with LSU about replacing Johnny Jones and has emerged as one of the frontrunners for the job, sources told ESPN.

Wade, 34, has been the head coach of the Rams for two seasons, taking over when Shaka Smart left for Texas in 2015. VCU is 51-20 under Wade, making back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. Wade was also the head coach at Chattanooga for two seasons, going 40-25 overall and 27-7 in the Southern Conference.

Wade began his coaching career at Clemson as a graduate assistant and director of basketball operations from 2005-07, before spending time as an assistant coach at Harvard and VCU.

Seems like the best thread for this...

Anyone wanting to let Dakich know how you feel about him, send your angriest tweets to @PardonMyTake and they'll read the best ones on the podcast tomorrow morning.

Edit: He's obviously going to be a guest on the show. So hearing him react to these will be high comedy.

I work/deal with a lot of LSU fans and most couldn't care less who their basketball coach is. It's all about football for them.

Crean will be successful in a scenario like that. Rack up some wins, make the dance every second or third year, bring a little spotlight to the bball program, all without the pressure of being THE guy in THE program. Focus on football will allow his mediocrity to appear to be less mediocre..
