Aaron Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Here's a thought. Maybe Crean wanted to host NIT game and Glass hopes that by denying him that opportunity he'll resign on his own and Glass won't have to fire him. Probably not a sound theory but no crazier than any of the others I've seen tonight. Quote
colonel06 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Just saw we turned down hosting because the students are gone. WHAT A JOKE. What has this University turned into? Because the kids are gone? BECAUSE THE KIDS ARE GONE?! Fred needs fired along with Crean. we need to start emailing Quinn Buckner, he's the only one with power and a sense of the real world. This is a joke. There is always Wayne Radford, Harry Gonso and Phil Eskew Jr. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote
cappymo14 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 I can't begin to understand this decision. So we are all thinking this has direct links to the firing/extending of Crean right? Ok, I need to say this then....Even if they announce tomorrow that he has been let go, as happy as we will all be, I'm calling for someone else to be fired over the weak decision to defer on a home game. I'm absolutely irate over this. We have been cheated.Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Tom White and Str8Hoosiers 2 Quote

May be able to get it for cheap Tuesday night since IU passed on playing a home game. thebigweave 1 Quote
cljones1979 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 What would make you guys happier? To wake up tomorrow morning and find out that Crean has been dismissed? I can tell you as a several year season ticket holder I had no interest in going to this game even if tickets were offered for free. Now granted I'm in Indy and not Bloomington so people in town may feel differently. Still I run down for every weekday Big Ten game despite having to wake up at 8am everyday for work. Not doing it for NIT though. If we keep Crean than people should be calling for Fred Glass and all higher ups head in the department but not over declining to host an NIT home game. I don't feel personally cheated because I had no plans of going, but theyre cheating the fan base as a whole. Tickets would be cheap and a lot of young kids are on spring break this week. People who normally don't get to watch the Hoosiers in Assembly would have the chance to do so. You and I are mad about this season but an 8 year old kid doesn't care that it's the NIT. Parents would be able to take their kids to a game without spending hundreds of dollars. IU basically told these fans that they're not good enough, they don't want their money, and they would rather not risk looking bad with crappy attendance than let them take in a home game. It was an awful decision by Fred Glass. Kepner, ThompsonHoosier, Ryno6284 and 10 others 13 Quote
Brass Cannon Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 Is Glass trying to throw the Nit so he can fire Crean sooner? Only good explanation Hoosier_roots, A.j. Nigh and thebigweave 3 Quote
cljones1979 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 They moved the game so crean wouldn't get booed at home. After NIT is over glass will announce crean is staying and that will give fans whole off season to cool off. Sent from my SM-G935V using BtownBanners mobile app Alford Bailey 1 Quote

Either way IU has sullied their reputation as a program. And now they're sticking it to the guys and the fan base simultaneously. There has to be a major change, and higher up than just HC. I took this week off work so I could take my son to his game, because it is still a great game GT vs IU is a marquee game if it was non conference so why doesnt it matter now? Also to add to the point the crowd not being filled with drunk kids and not as crazy as it usually is is the reason I wanted to take my son. Just cause you dont wanna go dont act like no one in Hoosier Land didnt want to. I live 4 hours away and was gladly gonna do it. This was in response to the poster claiming no one cared nor would go. Speak for yourself man. Not everyone is season ticket holders and can drive down every home game, so these kind of games are perfect for people. People wouldn't forget and would add his name next to Crean's on the firing board. I'm not saying this isn't going to happen, but if it does I expect it to bite Glass in the butt big time. cljones1979, kottke and Kepner 3 Quote

See, I don't care that it's only an NIT game, nor do I care that you and I were not going to attend. It's not about that. It's about yet another completely baffling, unexplainable, cowardly decision coming from an administration that seems intent on sabotaging its own team. It's about the players. It's about the fans who did want to go. They are out there. Plenty of other teams have break, none declined to host but us. Popular Post rebelhoosier848891 Posted March 13, 2017 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2017 It's being reported that 10 other schools including Syracuse that are in the NIT are also on Spring Break but none of them turned down their home games. Lame excuse---something else is going on and maybe we find out tomorrow. We play no-name cupcake schools over Christmas break when the students are gone but we can't play a power conference school like Georgia Tech in the NIT at home because of spring break? Right! We are not buying what you are selling IU! Excuses--lame excuses. cappymo14, ThompsonHoosier, A.j. Nigh and 11 others 14 Quote

Sure it's not the game/tournament we all wanted to be playing in, but it's still a solid matchup. The university doesn't have a problem taking people's money to watch us play the Deleware State's of the world over winter break, but hosting an ACC school over spring break would've just been too much.
