True, Crean has called out some players publicly with more vigor than normal. Probably more of a motivational tactic.

The guy has never taken any responsibility for himself, unless you count his recent "it's not my fault, and here's excuses x, y, and z, but I'm not shaking responsibility" crap.  That's not motivation, that's a coward.

Didnt read back through everything this afternoon so sorry if this was already posted but I heard Alford was contacted to gauge interest.

 

Edit: Im not an insider and this wasnt a University source but a New Castle guy who knows Alford.

If you have watched lately it didnt work just made RoJos coach and James Sr furious at him. I do feel like progress has been made tho if your admitting he has done it. I get you like Crean but what did you really expect coming to this thread where we are over 10,000 deep on the guy lol?

He seems to be doing okay though regardless of where their from. Ball, Hamilton, Leaf, Welsh, Ike, with a top 5 class coming in. I dont want Alford but he is doing okay for himself recruiting wise. It is the xs and os that make him less than ideal for us.

Collegiate sports generate extraordinary revenue to universities both in public relations and monetary value. Tom Crean has added value to IU since his arrival. Unfortunately, too many Indiana fans' self-esteem is derived only from IU Basketball winning games and participating in March Madness.  Hence the unrest and upheaval to fire a good coach. Please remember Bobby Knight was fired by the university for rogue behavior. And for those who say Knight won the "right way" then why did IU let go football coach Kevin Wilson after having the best two consecutive seasons in about 30 years?

First off, you need to read up on why Wilson was let go. Secondly, I have a hard time believing that anyone who accepts a bball coach that has a career losing record against every team in his conference with the exception of two during his tenure needs to retain his job. Things may be always sunny with your "West Coast View" but things will remain cloudy and bleak here unless a change is made.

Back on topic. I swear to god if the Billy Donovan talk died down because we were to cheap to pay him then I am going to just burn all my IU apparel and refuse to replace it till Glass gets canned.

Change a few words and you could say the same about Crean.  He can't convince players to stay in their own backyards at a historic mecca of college basketball I N I A N A, I left out the 'd' because his teams don't play any.
