Uspshoosier Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Newkirk has been terrific. Certainly better than anyone expected, I think. Newkirk has been terrific in spurts and also has been down right terrible in some of his basketball decisions as well. Definitely a lot of potential to improve Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners hoosierdogg, Alford Bailey and IUsafety 3 Quote
Josh Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I've been a big Josh supporter since exhibition. Certainly not just because I like his name. His defense is phenomenal, and when his offense is going, he's perfect for us. cappymo14, ALASKA HOOSIER, hoosha61 and 1 other 4 Quote

HoosierAloha Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Not too shocked that we won. I bit shocked that we won in a lower scoring game. Is IU the team that beat KU and UNC or lost the IPFW? Hopefully the KU - IPFW - UNC stretch taught this team a lesson. Good win at home against one of the best teams in the country. Build on the momentum, work on the little things against the cupcakes, and get healthy. Hope OG is okay. Good leadership by JBJ. ALASKA HOOSIER and Napleshoosier 2 Quote
Popular Post Dalton26 Posted December 1, 2016 Author Popular Post Posted December 1, 2016 So far IU has been involved in every loss by the #3 team in the country. Hovadipo, ThompsonHoosier, pappy1865 and 14 others 17 Quote
BGleas Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Really impressive that we held UNC to 67 points. Really good defensive effort, off the heels of the Ft. Wayne disaster. Probably even most impressive is how we didn't let Carolina get into hardly any transition offense. I do worry about our offense at time, we struggle to get buckets when things stagnate, and just shocking we've beaten KU and UNC with how shaky our guards can be. Hopefully we use the next several games to get OG healthy and to get CuJo and Green some confidence back. We're going to need the young guards to provide some offense off the bench. Josh Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Fort Wayne must be the best team in the nation because we can't be worse than 2nd. southsidehoosier, MartintheMopMan, HoosierAloha and 2 others 5 Quote
Popular Post HoosierAloha Posted December 1, 2016 Popular Post Posted December 1, 2016 I thought Davis would be more of a stretch 4 than Bryant but from these early games Davis has more moves and a better feel in the post. He's not as athletic as Bryant but he can move defenders and get to his spot. I thought we finished better around the rim tonight than we have in other games. hoosierdogg Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 All five starters in double figures scoring - great balance. JN -10, RJ -11, TB - 12, JBJ - 14, OG - 16. How about that! Josh, DChoosier, Napleshoosier and 4 others 7 Quote

Im now concerned about our guard play. Not any great ball handlers and other than JBJ cant hit free throws. That HAS to improve by B1G. ALASKA HOOSIER, BGleas and Beachfront Property 3 Quote

Davis is a prototypical center whereas Bryant seems to be the 4. Davis has much different footwork. Napleshoosier, HoosierAloha, Cletus20 and 1 other 4 Quote

Cletus20 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Great win against a fantastic team! I hope we see the first half Hoosiers the rest of this season more than the second half: standing around, no cutting, dribble out the shot clock, no game-plan looking team. These kids are talented and special, no doubt. But we have got to get past the standing watching no plan offensive team we saw in the second half. Run SOMETHING! We were the more talented team and could have won by 20. Great win boys! Let's continue to dictate play and make others chase for 40 minutes! Go Hoosiers! hsrtxp Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Thoughts on Bryant's defense? Seemed he let them get deep in the lane on any number of occasions. Sometimes he just doesn't seem to play as big as he is. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners Beachfront Property and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

As you said he is a solid defender too. ALASKA HOOSIER and Josh 2 Quote

Sent from my SPH-L720T using BtownBanners mobile app I saw the same replay as everyone else, but that looked like a pretty typical ankle roll- not high ankle. My unprofessional opinion says he'll be in a walking boot for a few days and maybe misses a game or two. Josh, KelleyHoosh and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote
