  1. Part of me feels like this team turns a corner after OSU and we blow this one wide open. At this point think we can definitely count on the defense to do its part. Offense just needs to figure a few things out. Should be a good test.

  2. Eric Gordon…. Is he perhaps one of the least talked about 14,000+ point scorer, $186,000,000+ player in the history of the NBA?

  3. No love for OSU, but that sucks for the kid. Hope he has a full recovery. He and Moore are the poster kids for going to the league as soon as possible.

  5. Every Tommy Carr play against Penn State is below. Some takeaways: While he threw incompletions into traffic a few times, he was very accurate when receivers were open. Every single play except for one was a zero pressure throw or run. Every single throw appeared to be to his first read.

  7. I think it would be more of a trap game if we had won. Our guys should be hungry. With that said, I picked this game at the beginning of the year as one of our tougher ones. I’m glad they’re in QB turmoil.

  11. A year ago T. Carr was committed to Miami (OH). He didn't receive an offer from UM until 16 Nov 2025. In high school Carr was 10-2 last year. Decent stats but not amazing. His measurables aren't too far off from Hoover (Height/Weight). If IU scores 15 points they win

  12. They probably have no choice, but dropping a true Freshman in against Haines feels like a Christians vs the lions proposition. This might get gross.

Can’t lie, every time I see that quote from the Big 12 Commisioner about not declaring for the draft being the distinguishing factor it makes me laugh.

Yea. I think it’s directionally right and providing ranges was wise. Same approach Stew Mandel took when he did CFB roster cost. Matt did a nice job and a-hole Jeff is coping. Classic.

Big analysis on roster spend. Very good info in here. We aren’t the top, but we are close to top-10. Also, there aren’t 20-25 teams spending $20M+ like some coaches claim. Lastly, Purdue sure is on a budget — $7-10M range?!

  21. They'd also be paying him $10 million to stay. :} They made the right choice.

  22. 100% this. One of our two offensive scores against OSU was because of a very, very short field after an interception. It is more than fair to think that if we could shake Sayin we will be able to 'super-shake' freshman Tommy Carr. On the other hand, if we can confuse Carr the freshman, it is also fair to say that the easily confused Bryce Underwood could be in even more of a state.

  28. Assuming IUFB runs the table, which is a very big assumption, we'll need to get in on a one loss tiebreaker One loss tiebreakers UCLA - Need them to lose to SC, Michigan, and/or Minny. O$U - at SC, Oregon, NW, at Nebraska, and Michigan is their remaining schedule. Without Sayin they will be heavily challenged. I will not be surprised if they slip up a game or two because it's not a cakewalk for them. Need them to lose two games, they hold the H2H tiebreaker. Iowa - Needs to run the table. Schedule is favorable for them but travels to Minny and NW. NW - We hold the tiebreaker H2H SC - On the schedule play them 11/14, loser will be eliminated. Oregon - Needs to run the table with NW, at O$U and Michigan on the schedule Wisconsin - Needs to run the table. SC, at Purdue, and Minny on the schedule. Toughest game is at Iowa. Minny - play them 10/31 loser will be eliminated. Iowa might be the team that slips in over us if I had to guess. I don't foresee a two conference loss team playing the championship game.

  29. Combined stats through two exhibitions games. BTW, Butler defeated Indiana State 81-74 yesterday in exhibition. Unfortunately for them, Jalen Jackson went down late in the game holding his knee and looks like it might be a big injury. He led Butler in scoring in both the Indiana and Indiana State games. 1) Goodman might not just be that smart, and/or he’s such a dork nobody wants to talk to him 2) in the article, they claim they got 2 independent verifications for the numbers. I’m assuming that means they checked with the schools and then the agents separately. From the article: The trickiest part of a project like this: an understandable motivation for some people to lie about their school's actual number. We are not the IRS, so there's only so much we can do to corroborate the information. In an effort to get the clearest picture possible of which schools are spending how much, CBS Sports' sourcing is based on conversations (and longstanding relationships) with head coaches, assistants, athletic directors, general managers, agents and even some third-party consultants who have access to teams' NIL contracts. In some instances, sources provided a team's spending ledger under the agreement that documents and/or screenshots would not be shared to anyone else. FWIW

Yup, the Breslin crowd was objectively great. They did a terrific job with that event. And I’d be perfectly comfortable playing that team. Unless Scott is on I don’t see where their actual shotmaking comes from unless Jervis is ready to be that as a frosh and that seems like asking a lot. But they do have a bunch of depth and they could grind teams down,

  37. Shanahan hasn't been overly impressive this year IMO so I guess he could get poached but i'd bet he would be going to an up and coming program maybe? Cig has made reference several times that Haines won't leave for another college program, so I am guessing until the NFL comes calling, he's staying put so either he takes the reigns at IU or he leaves for the NFL at some point. Just a guess based on different things Cig has said.

  44. A lot to digest after this heartbreaking loss. One, we do have talent, but it ain't Cig talent. We lost a lot of the disciplined leadership from last year who had been with Cig since JMU. Lesser hyped guys like Sarrat, Cooper, Fischer, etc. Guys like Marsh are uber talented, but then fail to focus on the little details that matter in this game (just maybe he could have kept his foot down, but it didn't appear he tried or was aware, or not spiking the ball, etc.). Jones hitting a sliding QB, etc. That chit is completely anti-Cig. Second, Hoover hasn't taken the step we needed him to take. Way too many misses and in a game against top teams, the misses are what kill you. He's a tough kid, seems likable, but just hasn't improved his accuracy or his reads Granted, it's difficult to come behind a legend like Fernando -- we were spoiled last year). Run game. A few posters complained about the run game above. We seem to have a stubbornness about trying to run it between the tackles. That doesn't work against teams with big fatties up front and load up the box to take it away. Runs outside the tackles seemed to be looser, but we don't do that consistently. The last two weeks, we were forced to get away from the run in the 4th qtr. and the offense moved the ball and scored (a foot OB notwithstanding). We need to change that earlier -- throw to run the ball. All in all a heartbreaker that could have, should have, been won. We now have to regroup and finish the season strong.
